It seems predictions are popping up all over the place these past few weeks. The early buzz has the Hoosiers finishing anywhere from fifth to ninth in the Big Ten. And so in the spirit of all of this forecasting, we’re turning it over to you.

Your task? Predict Indiana’s final regular season record.

13 non-conference games. 18 Big Ten games. A total of 31 contests.

Your reward? $100 to spend with our friends at T.I.S. in Bloomington.

Here’s how it’ll work: This thread will remain open until the end of the month. Your guesses will then be locked in on October 1 and following the Purdue game next March, we’ll revisit the comments and pull out all of the correct guesses. Everyone that gets the regular season record correct will then be entered into a drawing for the prize.

Feel free to show your work with your prediction, but please post it as the first part of your comment. It makes for easier record keeping. Also, one entry per person, please.

Open Thread: So, who’s in your rotation?

by in Commentary | August 16th, 2011

One of the more interesting open threads we’ve had to date on Inside the Hall was last August when we polled you on Indiana’s top eight players entering the 2010-2011 season. The topic was sparked by comments made by Tom Crean stating that when he spoke with many of the players, most of them had Guy-Marc Michel in the top eight of the rotation.

Your responses to that call for discussion led to some pretty interesting debate and with the AAU season over, what better time than now to fire up another open thread?

We’ll switch it up a bit, but here goes: If you were to compose a rotation of players for the upcoming season, who would be on your list?

Bonus points for showing your work. Happy Tuesday, friends.

Open Thread: Straight to the point

The debate on who is, at this early juncture of the season, Indiana’s best option at point guard has been a healthy one over the past 24 hours in the comments here on Inside the Hall.

Keeping that topic in mind, we’ve decided to open things up with a dedicated thread to keep this discussion moving along.

There are several arguments to be made, but not an obvious, clear cut answer. We hope you’ll chime in with your thoughts.

Open Thread: So, who’s your top eight?

One of the interesting nuggets pulled from Dustin Dopirak’s Friday post over on the Hoosier Scoop discussed the top eight players in IU’s rotation for the coming season.

If you missed it, here’s the note:

Tom Crean reminded reporters that he has not seen Guy-Marc Michel play live yet, but said that he often asks his players who would be in their top eight if they had to make a rotation. All of them, he said, have Michel in their top eight.

One of the intriguing storylines heading into the start of practice, at least in my opinion, is the rotation.

On paper, you can make an argument for all 12 scholarship players having a shot to see significant time. But in reality, it’s rare for a team to have a regular rotation of players more than eight or nine deep, especially when conference play begins.

So, with that, we open it up to you: If you were to compose a rotation of eight players for the upcoming season, who would be on your list?

Bonus points for showing your work. Happy Monday.
