D.J. White Update: Nothing yet

by Ryan Corazza in Media | February 17th, 2008

The latest from IU Athletics Media Relations:

Indiana senior All-American candidate D.J. White is being treated for an injured left knee and underwent an MRI later today than expected (medical equipment issues). IU’s medical staff is awaiting further evaluation of the test. No further determination regarding his playing status for Tuesday’s game against Purdue has been made.

So yes: I suppose that really isn’t an update … or at least one we want to hear. It was encouraging that White walked off the court on his own accord and came back to the bench under his own power, but until it’s evaluated by an MRI, I guess we won’t know for sure.

Here’s to hoping White can play Tuesday. Even though the team thrived without him last night and I have faith we can put up a fight without him against Purdue, we’re kidding ourselves if we don’t think we need White on the court Tuesday night. It’s the biggest game of the year; we need all weapons locked and loaded.

DJ is the biggest advantage IU has over PU. I also believe DT would have some success against J.Johnson....there is a weight difference of about 100 pounds
  • Matt
I just read on Peegs a post by peegs himself saying..."hearing DJ is fine -- nothing showed up that wasn't normal"

Now dont kill the messenger but just trying to pass some news along...

oh fuck purdue...have some faith we are IU you know...the only thing that will stop us is all the banners getting in our way

I don't want to hear it. I live 40 miles north of purdue and I've been hearing it from them. I'll be damn if I'm going to listen to it from my fellow hoosiers
  • HoosierSmitty
DJ, get your goofy ass back on the court ASAP! We need you DJ!

    Go Hoosiers!

and this blog needs to write something about iu fans chanting sampsons name at the game and how stupid we looked
  • kelin
ricky I agree, that was as dumb as it gets........torn or not.....48hours prior we were calling for his head. I rather you boo or do nothing don't chant his name when in 1 week you will need a chant for .......Dan Dakich...clap clap ...clap clap clap

It may be hard to chant dan with one syllable or Scott..........we need a solid two syllable coach.....Randy Whitman maybe?

Wouldn't it be cool if Dak takes over and goes wins the big ten tourney and get us to the final 4..........greeny would piss his pants.....
  • ricky
haha if dak takes us to the final 4 he might get the job. how do you show a guy who just went to the final 4 the door? i dunno, but itd be fun to see greenspan do it
  • kelin
Interesting nbadraft.net have DJ going 24th to the spurs.....that would be nice.
I dare the pacers to pass on him or move up to get EJ........

Thanks for posting something about this Postman . . . I saw that post that Matt read and it looks good. Hopefully they are good at being honest reporters over and Peeg's and have good sources!
  • Nick
Crap, now when I go over to peegs (rivals) there's a couple posts that don't make me feel so good. Check out one of them . . . I think it says official statement doesn't confirm the good news. Tell me what you think after reading that post???

    Isthis really anonymous?

D.J. is definitely our biggest advantage against Purdue. We can beat them without him, but we can pwn them if he's healthy.

Let's rest him unless he's 100% ready, and YES I just used a PWN reference! Go Hoosiers. I'm so lonely.
  • kreigh_Smiths_Short_Shorts
    What is PWN?
  • TimEOBrien
You honestly don't want to know
  • JamesHardy
    if he doesn't...i sure do
  • Mr_C
I think DJ will play and be rather effective. He wasn't fast so we don't have to worry about a loss of speed. I imagine his rebounding totals will be low for a few games, but I don't think it will limit his post play much. Granted I do not know what I am talking about at all, I think he should be just fine. This also might just be wishful thinking because I have floor seats for the PU game.
  • knasmiley
I wish DJ only the best and hopefully he can go against PU on tuesday..................

PS: Not everyone wants KS gone.................
