Film Session: Purdue
On Purdue’s first possession of the second half, here comes that left wing handoff action once again. Williams screens Justin Smith as Evan Boudreaux hands off to Nojel Eastern:
Jackson-Davis now plays the roll of Davis from the previous two plays in this Film Session, rotating over and covering the ball handler as Smith plays the role of Green chasing back to the ball:
But things break down in a bad way from here on out. Jackson-Davis feels like it’s time for Smith to rotate back to Eastern and he starts moving right to switch back to Boudreaux. But all this does is give Eastern a lane to the rim. Smith points, essentially telling him as much:
Eastern cruises to the rim as Jackson-Davis is unable to get up into the air to contest:
Poor awareness from Indiana’s freshman on this one.
