Over the last month and a half, we’ve shared Big Ten picks from several of the preseason college basketball preview publications: Athlon Sports, Lindy’s Sports, Street and Smith’s and Blue Ribbon.

This morning, the official unofficial Big Ten preseason media poll, organized by Brendan F. Quinn of The Athletic and Adam Jardy of The Columbus Dispatch, was released.

The conference releases a preseason media poll on Thursday prior to Big Ten media day, but only asks participants for a top three in terms of order of finish. The unofficial poll surveys 28 writers from around the league to get their full predicted order of finish for the league, preseason all-league team, preseason player of the year and preseason freshman of the year.

This morning, Quinn published all of the particulars from the poll over at The Athletic. Indiana came in at third in the official unofficial Big Ten media poll:

1. Michigan State (386)
2. Michigan (360)
3. Indiana (305)
4. Nebraska (293)
5. Purdue (269)
6. Wisconsin (263)
7. Maryland (240)
8. Ohio State (177)
9. Minnesota (168)
10. Iowa (154)
11. Penn State (134)
12. Northwestern (95)
13. Illinois (65)
14. Rutgers (31)

(Out of a possible 392 votes)

One writer, Dylan Burkhardt of UMHoops.com, picked Indiana to win the league. Three writers – Jerry Carino, Nathan Baird, Jeff Potrykus – picked the Hoosiers to finish sixth and one writer – Ryan James – picked Indiana eighth.

Unsurprisingly, Purdue’s Carsen Edwards was voted the preseason Big Ten player of the year. Indiana’s Romeo Langford was the unanimous pick for preseason Big Ten freshman of the year. Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ received four votes for preseason Big Ten player of the year and Michigan’s Charles Matthews received one.

First Team All-Big Ten
Carsen Edwards, Purdue (28 – unanimous)
Ethan Happ, Wisconsin (28 – unanimous)
James Palmer Jr., Nebraska (23)
Cassius Winston, Michigan State (16)
Juwan Morgan, Indiana (12)

Also receiving votes: Nick Ward (9), Jordan Murphy (7), Romeo Langford (6), Charles Matthews (5), Anthony Cowan (4), Zavier Simpson (1) and Isaiah Livers (1).
