With the game getting away from the Hoosiers later in the second half, Holt sets a ball screen for Johnson. His man goes under the screen:
Anas Mahmoud opts to go with Johnson and now he’s double-teamed with Holt looking to come over and set a screen for Hoetzel:
But as Johnson continues to go to the hole, Hoetzel opts to try and get open in an area Johnson may be able to see him:
Because of the double-team, Ferrell’s man stays home with him in the right corner. Holt, who may have been able to bail Johnson out earlier had he flashed quick to the lane once the double-team came, is still in a tough position to receive the ball:
He eventually moves into the lane as Johnson tries sailing a pass to him as he jumps out of bounds:
But it goes over his head for a turnover:
“Come here, stand up here and listen,” Crean told Johnson as he yanked him from the game and used it as a teaching moment:
