The United States Basketball Writers Association announced the midseason watch list for the 2015 Wayman Tisdale Award, which honors the country’s top freshman, and IU freshman guard James Blackmon Jr. was among the 14 midseason candidates.

The complete watch list, per a USBWA press release issued earlier this afternoon, is available after the jump:

Noah Vonleh was on the midseason watch list for the award last season, Yogi Ferrell was on it during the 2012-2013 season and Cody Zeller was on the midseason watch list for the 2011-2012 season.

The USBWA has chosen a national freshman of the year since the 1988-89 season, but an Indiana player has never won the award.

Only 3 players on the list play for their hometown state’s university.

Lots of people still demand from Crean to lock down our in-state recruits. I wish they didn’t.

  • Eugene Debs

Makes sense, he’s awesome. Seriously, glad we have him.

Trey Lyles would have made it alongside JBJ, should he have put on that IU uniform. Feel bad for him.

Having Lyles could have made this team even more dangerous than what they currently are.
