Spiece Indy Heat split its first two games in the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam on Thursday, but 2014 IU commit Trey Lyles put together solid performances in both contests.

In a win over 70-59 win over Boo Williams, Lyles scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds and in a 74-61 loss to the Playaz, Lyles registered a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Watch over two minutes of video from Lyles in the loss to the Playaz in the embedded media player below:

  • Looks like he had an off night in this game but we all know what he is capable of. Trey is the player I am looking forward to the most about showing up in Bloomington. This kid is going to be a beast in college, bad thing is he will probably be a one and done.

Best video I have seen on Trey. It showed his strengths and weaknesses. Clearly he is skilled and versatile, but it is just as clear that he needs to work on finishing after contact and overall strength. Still has 2 years to do that before he shows up on campus. It will be fun to watch him develop.

Its awesome to see Trey put up those kinds of numbers even when he isn’t getting the bunnies to fall for him. Finishing through contact will come, but the fact that is is probably going to play the 4 a lot for us makes him an absolute nightmare to defend. Who in the world are teams going to have guard this kid!?

    Damn… 17 pts/12 boards… I wish I could have off-nights like that…

Trey is going to be something special. Even in a clip like this where it looked like he was having one of those games where nothing would fall; he looked really good. A recent comparison would be Derrick Williams out of Arizona, but Trey may be a little taller(?). But, I can’t see him being in Bloomington for more than 2 years, and thats taking a half-glass full(aka Cody Zeller) approach.

    He moves like a guard.

Is this tournament on tv? Just curious because of the scoreboard at the bottom

  • Regardless of the stats he did miss quite a few shots that should have went in and thats what I meant by an off night.

No, I agree — it WAS an off-night for him… But yeah, I’ll def drool over a kid who can put up those #’s in elite AAU play… on an “off-night”…

Not the best shooting tape I’ve seen on him..but Trey looks a lot quicker and is going to the hole more..gotta like that. He will be a teriffic “4” for IU..especially with the big men in the post we should have to help out.
