The previous video we had on Luke showed him missing quite a few longer range jumpers.  This video shows his inside game a little more and we can see that he can score off his jump hook.

looks of their uni’s it seems like he is already playing for Wisconsin…Seriously though, this kid has to be theirs to lose

Anyone remember Cody at that time of his career?  He reminds me of CZ a bit (wearing 40  helps with that), so it would be interesting to compare the two as rising juniors.  I would have to say that WI will probably want the kid, too.

I could be wrong.  I think we too need some more depth in our front court but I am not real hot on this prospect.

  • Going to be a good one in my opinion. Has a knack for being in position to make a play.

  • He really has the feel of one of those hidden Wisconsin gems that the Badgers keep finding year in and year out.

  • Bo Ryan watched all his games at KY Hoopfest so I wouldnt get my hopes up on him coming to BTown

  • As did the IU staff. Indiana has offered, Wisconsin has not. Fischer also said he grew up watching Crean at Marquette:

To you and Adam below…I will agree that bo Ryan has a penchant for finding very good role players / big men that are not the flashiest players but get the job done.  Luke may indeed fit that description.  If so, we could use one of those (as could any team).  It’s just hard to get that from a video clip most times.  I’ll take your word for it.

I personally think this would be a nice addition to the 2013 class.  The comparisons to Wisconsin bigs of recent memory are obvious and he will be tough to pull from the Badgers (however, they haven’t offered yet).  For me, he is a good complimentary interior player to Zeller, Perea and Jurkin.  He can score on some post moves (love a nice hook) and positions himself well on both ends of the floor.  How many times do we need to watch Wisconsin players like Mike Breusewitz, Jon Leuer or Joe Krabbenhoft and wish we had a player like that on our roster.

Fischer would bring a frontcourt player that can score down low to the class of 2013.  He would add to what is currently, in my opinion, a class that has two glue guys that can fill multiple roles on a team of highly-touted recruits.  Fischer has an interest and we would be foolish to discount Crean’s ability to win another recruiting battle.

  • Drake and Creighton has offered too…That should tell you a lil something

  • It’s not uncommon for a kid to have early mid-major offers before high-majors start to offer. In fact, that’s pretty much how it works in a lot of cases.

If I recall, that’s how Butler got Matt Howard, Gordon Hayward, and Shelvin Mack.  Without looking it up, I think Purdue and Indiana got in late on Howard, Purdue was in on Hayward, and Kentucky was in late on Mack.  But Butler closed the deal with all of them.

I guess that’s the key to a mid-major team being as dominant as Butler was the past few years; a lot of them get one guy like that, but to get multiples in consecutive classes is huge.

Sounds like he may be of the Steve Novak mode.  Is that a fair comparison?

  • No….Novak is a shooter and a scorer….I watched 3 of his games at Hoopfest and Luke might have scored double figures once…Is it me or is Crean handing out schollys like Holloween candy???.. Tj Warren got 3 T’s for running his mouth at hoopfest…He will fit right in at UK!!!

Other than Tom Izzo, Bo Ryan has been the best coach in the B10 for some time.  No one in the country does a better job of developing talent, with guys that are not usually ranked high, than Bo.  This guy fits his mold exactly and that is why he is showing interest.  If WI can win B10 titles with guys like this, why can’t IU do it.  It’s INDIANA…  I think Crean did the right thing and got ahead of Bo on this one.  WI will offer eventually, but it will not be a slam dunk especially if IU can get to the post season this year.  If he gits to 6’11”, he won’t need a jumb shot.

Guys I will add here, being a Wisconsin native, Bo Ryan recruits differently. Totally a system guy. The higher profile recruits usually leave the state. So to say anyone is “Bo Ryan’s to lose” just isn’t the case up here.

He looks nothing more than a role player at best (Remember Bobby C.). No offense, if we are going to compete against the elite programs in the nation not only in the Big Ten. we need mostly top 100 players at this time. We cannot afford any more players that are mid major level talent at the moment. Maybe later, that’s a big maybe!

Ah, so big time teams have no role players. Learn something new every day.
