Game Day Reading:

As always, game predictions and your thoughts are welcome in the comments leading up to tip-off and during the game.

Any word on whether or not Dumes is likely to play?
  • Not sure on that. I think it's a game-time decision at best.
  • dphattybrown
pretty sure he will not play based on the Crean interview from yesterday.
  • Bryan
Did anyone test if there was an appreciable lag between the Big 10 Network video stream from the last game and the IU radio broadcast? I want to watch, but I'm not sure I can stomach another helping of Dave Leno.
  • GFDave
There was a big difference between the two. I tried to listen to Fisch and watch the stream but it was impossibly confusing.
  • Bman
Will this game replay on th BTN?
  • BFowler
Yes, it is coming on Tuesday at 1pm and 11:30 pm
  • This marks only the second time in my life I will be rooting AGAINST Indiana.

I went to college at St. Joe's. When they played a couple of years ago, I was in heaven...until they broke DJ's foot. *shifty-eyed*

Here's to hoping no one misses half a season this year after the game!
  • Hoosier76
will there be updates on the score through insidethehalls twitter page again?
  • Yes, there will.
  • HoosierSmitty
I hope Crean gives a good hard look at what he figures to be his "usual" rotation. I'd like to see what some of these guys can do with extended minutes. Obviously if Dumes is still out/hobbled that will alter things. Plus you know Crean is going to have to give Bawa some real minutes that he might not get in other situations this year.

With guys like Watford and Elston, we have more versatility with our lineup. Our guards have good size (Jones, Rivers). I think we actually match up pretty well with a lot of teams this season.

So the poll has "finish about .500" listed. I was so torn because I really think 15-15 is the high water mark this season prior to Big Ten Tournament play. I don't see any reason we can't go 8-4 in the preseason. Winning 7 games in the Big Ten will be the big question mark.

My guess is we at least double our wins from last year and maybe sneak a few more in there.

Ok Smitty. Just to pump you up. I looked at last year's scores and added 12 pts to the differential , then adjusted for the schedule ( ie PSU only once for example and PU twice ).

I used 12 ppts because I estimated Rivers defense and lower TO's would account for 6pts difference. More experience from Jones,TP, Dumes would be worth 4 pts and the more firepower from Creek, Watfrord Elston worth 2 pts.

This results in a winning season . But we need to beat Minn twice
  • stephen
i have heard that logic about how many points we gain this year from last year and how many wins that equals. it makes no sense.

anyone who knows anything about the game of basketball knows that all points aren't equal. its a lot easier to get 2 points when you are down 20 than when you are down 2. we stayed close to a lot of teams last year, even though we really didn't have the talent to compete for wins against them. we will be closer to doing that this year but a winning season will be tough.

Alex, just noticed David Williams' name no longer appears under 2010 recruits on the right. Did my page not refresh correctly, or.......?
  • I vote for Verdell Jones as the player of most impact tonight.(: Forget the official word for this, but I think you get the general idea of what I mean.(:
  • M&Choosierfactory
    Will David Williams sign tomorrow?
  • The early signing period begins Wednesday. I only expect Oladipo to sign a Letter of Intent and potentially Sheehey if he decided to commit before the 18th.
  • Lineup: Rivers, Jones, Creek, Watford and Jobe.
  • dphattybrown
    32-20 with 7:30 to go
  • Indiana 39, St. Joseph's 26 with 3:26 remaining in the 1st half. Maurice Creek leads the Hoosiers with 11 points.
  • dphattybrown
    Bawa debut at 3:02
  • Three quick points for Bawa.
  • HoosierSmitty
Um, so yeah, Bawa is definitely not terrible. Not great, but that's not a bad first impression in my book.
  • stephen
he looks more at ease in the flow of the game than jobe. which isn't saying a lot but... bawa is better than i expected. handled the ball in the paint, had a few blocks, rebounds. looks like he could put in some quality minutes if he keeps improving.
  • GFDave
Yes, he's having a positive impact on the game. Good movement. Nice hands on that one catch. A little slow to react on D. Much better overall than I thought, but St Joes not the biggest group.
  • dphattybrown
1st Half much better than last game. Very aggressive on offense, getting to the basket and taking smart shots. Defense is looking great, gave up a couple of easy baskets underneath but not too bad. Rebounding hasnt been the best with St Jo having 5-6 offensive boards.

Mo Creek - Looks great, confident with the ball. Has been impressive this game with his hustle.

Rivers - more aggressive with the ball this game, couple of bad passes but all around a good showing so far.

Watford - Been quiet, looks good on D and has not made any mistakes on the offensive side.

Elston - Still appears reserved but has played better. Having watched him play quite a bit in Tipton i know he can be more aggressive on Offense and on the boards.

Hulls - had a 3 possession stretch with charge, T.O., T.O. shooting the ball well but uncharacteristic mistakes.

Bawa - Looked good in 3 minutes, seems to not quite have a grasp on O or D but not getting out of position and being aggressive with the ball under the hoop.

Overall the team looks much improved!!
  • HoosierSmitty
I'm pleased with Bawa tonight. I know it's just St. Joseph's, but remember, this kid is only a freshman. He can definitely help. He's WAY better than Jobe. Raw as hell, but still better.
