Bassett noncommittal about future at IU

by Alex Bozich in Media | March 22nd, 2008

Armon Bassett was asked about his future at Indiana following IU’s 86-72 loss to Arkansas and here’s what the sophomore point guard from Terre Haute had to say:

I’m still not going to think about it. I just want to take the next week or so to reminisce about playing with two NBA players and a good group of seniors and finish out the school year strong.

If DJ has been the heart of this team then Bassett has been everything else. He has been a good player pretty consistently. I sure hope Armon decides to stay at IU to become the center piece of a new team with a new coach.

I agree totally. Armon is a true team player, and I think he would regret it if he transferred. He would definetly have all the playing time he wants no matter who the coach is. My best assessment would be he will do what DJ did when Davis resigned, Armon will wait and see who the next coach will be and sit down with him and get a feel for where the program is headed and how he fits in. Please Armon it is a joy watching you play and would love to see you in the cream and crimson for 2 more years..

very well said. armon is a rock and will evolve into a superb player over the next two years. i would love to see him do that in an indiana jersey.

Bassett will eventually realize he will be the star of all those that remain at IU and stay. For him to go would be foolish if Gordon leaves and Crawford bolts. Who would get all the pt at guard next season? Bassett will think about it and make a wise decision to stay and be the man next season for a new coach to build around.
