2026-27 IU basketball roster tracker: The latest after Sam Alexis news

Season one of the Darian DeVries era ended in the Big Ten tournament with a loss to Northwestern and the roster for the 2026-27 season now has 13 scholarship players as of Monday, August 3.

The Hoosiers finished the 2025-26 season with an 18-14 record. IU was 9-11 in the Big Ten, picked to finish 10th and finished 10th. The program missed the NCAA tournament for a third consecutive season. IU’s last appearance in the NCAA tournament came in 2023 under Mike Woodson, ending with a second-round loss to Miami (FL) in Albany, New York.

Six of IU’s scholarship players from last season’s roster entered the transfer portal and committed to new schools. The Hoosiers have added seven players via the transfer portal and will have four freshmen next season, along with two returning players, bringing the roster to 13 scholarship players.

Out of eligibility/not returning

Five IU players from the 2025-26 season have completed their eligibility and will not return for the 2026-27 season.

Tucker DeVries, Lamar Wilkerson, Tayton Conerway, Conor Enright and Reed Bailey were five of IU’s top six scorers from last season. It should be noted that Bailey is among the class of players who recently won a preliminary injunction for an additional season of eligibility and could return to college basketball next season.

Confirmed to return for the 2026-27 season

Trent Sisley, who averaged 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game in the 2025-26 season, is back for his sophomore season. Sisley played for IU in the FISU America Games in Lima, Peru.

Declared intent to return for the 2026-27 season

Sam Alexis, who recently won a preliminary injunction for an additional season of eligibility, declared his intent to come back to the program for the 2026-27 season on Sunday, August 2.

Alexis, who played with the IU roster at the FISU America Games in Lima, Peru, is currently eligible for next season under the preliminary injunction.

Entered the transfer portal

Six IU players who were eligible to return next season entered the transfer portal: Jason Drake, Jasai Miles, Josh Harris, Aleksa Ristic, Nick Dorn and Andrej Acimovic.

All chose new schools: Drake (Temple), Miles (Loyola Marymount), Harris (FAU), Ristic (Belmont), Dorn (Miami FL) and Acimovic (Missouri State).

Roster additions from high school/international

Indiana has four freshmen on the 2026-27 roster.

The Hoosiers signed guard Prince-Alexander Moody and wing Vaughn Karvala last fall and landed a commitment from wing Trevor Manhertz in late January. The program officially announced the signings of Moody and Karvala in November and announced the signing of Manhertz on April 15. Moody, Karvala and Manhertz have been on campus since early June and played in the FISU America Games in Lima, Peru, in July.

On Friday, May 8, German center Clemens Sokolov committed to the Hoosiers. He is not yet on campus.

IU’s 2026 recruiting class is ranked among the top 20 classes nationally.

Roster additions from the transfer portal

IU basketball landed three transfer portal commitments on Monday, April 13, a fourth commitment on Tuesday, April 14 and commitments five and six on Wednesday, April 15. The Hoosiers landed a seventh portal commitment on Tuesday, May 12.

In order, Jaeden Mustaf (Georgia Tech), Darren Harris (Duke), Markus Burton (Notre Dame), Samet Yigitoglu (SMU), Aiden Sherrell (Alabama) and Bryce Lindsay (Villanova) have committed to the Hoosiers, giving DeVries the core of his second portal class in Bloomington. Maryland Eastern Shore guard Justin Monden committed to IU on May 12.

All seven of IU’s additions from the portal have been on campus since early June and played in the FISU America Games in Lima, Peru, in July.
