Film Session: Illinois
With the Hoosiers down a point, Jackson-Davis sets a ball screen for Johnson. He drives left and is met with Cockburn’s drop coverage. So Johnson passes it up top to Thompson, who swings it to Rob Phinisee on the right wing. Jackson-Davis has moved down to the right low block and looks for the ball there.
But as the pass comes, Cockburn has pushed him out almost all the way to the 3-point line in the left corner. Jackson-Davis drives to the left elbow, avoiding Frazier’s dig. From there, he spins back over his left shoulder and scores the bucket with his right hand at the rim.
Jackson-Davis has been reluctant to use his right hand this season, but here he was in a crucial moment using it for two huge points.
