Not sure what the rankings are but he looks much better than Trey Galloway. Looks smooth and shows some explosion when he went up for his dunk.

How Archie manages his recruiting will be interesting to see. He is rightly committed to the “inside/out” strategy that prioritizes getting Indiana’s best recruits, but the 2020 and 2021 classes may not have quite the same level of talent as those that have come through in recent years. I am no expert by any means, but there are no players from Indiana in ESPN’s top 25 for those years, and this kid is not being recruited by any other B1G schools. He actually looks kind of bouncy and long (for a guard), and he’s just a sophomore, so I am not making any judgment about him specifically. Just raising the question of how committed Archie will be to Indiana kids for their own sake if there are years when there just aren’t any B1G caliber players, or if those that are B1G caliber commit to other schools.

I did a bit of digging, and while I won’t offer any strong opinion of my own, I will say this: Galloway is being recruited by Butler, Purdue, and Xavier (among others), while Hemenway is being recruited by schools like Creighton, Nebraska, and Clemson. As I said in my other post, Hemenway looks pretty athletic to me, but at least for now he is not being pursued by schools of the same caliber as Galloway. They both look good enough in these short clips to be worth watching, which is what Archie seems to be doing.

I don’t believe either have been offered by Archie and I’m hoping we can pull in better recruits than both of them. I’m still hoping for Brooks and Davis and Watford in 2019.

Not sure what to make of it, but IU isn’t even listed on Watford’s ESPN recruiting page. Same with Matthew Hurt, who seemed to be interested at one point. We do show up on both Brooks’ and Davis’ pages, but so far as I can tell, no one else in the top 60 for 2019. Obviously Archie wasn’t recruiting any of those players until a few months ago, and who knows what the recruiting services know. But we sure haven’t seen or heard much from/about Watford lately, which is troubling.

I know the Watford buzz has cooled off. However, I don’t really use ESPN for recruiting info since they have pretty much laid off there entire staff that does actual research and reporting. Then again I also don’t trust 24/7 Crystal Ball much either because anyone can make predictions on there and 95% of the people predicting on there have never had a conversation with a recruit and everyone is just making a guess on the same stuff we read. Plus since they allow people to change their picks everyone gets like 80% right because they all change last minute.
