• Archie talks a little, but says a lot. CTC tended to talk a lot, but say little. I like this style better, but maybe that’s just me.

  • Mark Bando

6 of the players in tonight’s McDonald’s all American game are uncommitted. Go get an Archie.

  • I don’t think you’re alone.

  • Ms hoosier

For anybody who didn’t think IU basketball was a big deal anymore!! Just ask Archie!! The man hasn’t had a break all week!! Everybody across this country wants an interview with the man!! I love it!!

  • Ole Man

I listened to them all. And with each one I am more and more impressed.
He is genuine; the real deal!

  • Ms hoosier

I really liked the way he answered the question on RMK. Archie is his own man at a very young age

  • Mark Bando

    Very good point

  • cbags05

    Ya good stuff

  • HoosierDom

    Well, were already oversigned

  • I’ve listened to so many of these things, they’re all running together. Remind me of the gist? I think it was Sterling’s question, but I’m fried.

  • Yeah, I get the impression that Archie is going to focus on the current and committed players this year. Probably along with reaching out and starting to build relationships around the state. Next recruiting cycle will be his focus, I’ll wager.

  • Lance76

Archie was smooth and confident in letting players know how important they are. Best outcome is retention of players and recruits. This is going to be interesting. It seems like he “gets it”

  • AndyCapp

Yeh, but that doesn’t take into account guys who are graduating early (at least 2), guys declaring for NBA/next phase of career (maybe 2-3) and new recruits who have already asked for release of their obligation (at least 2). If ANY of the McD’s can be had I would imagine there is plenty of room that COULD be made. Not that Coach (love sayin that, especially since we landed AM) would make it a big priority, just sayin…

  • AndyCapp

If he’s impressing you, that says a lot.
Hope to find time to listen tomorrow. One that you really liked, and why?

  • After listening to all of them, there were some minor similarities. Anyone who has to talk a lot in a short period of time is bound to repeat things. He started talking about “getting better” a few times, for example. The thing is…talky talky isnt’ the important thing. Putting together a solid squad who are over-ready to rock is priority #1. There are finally seniors. They all come together and have chips on shoulders — look out.

  • one or two would be a good start if they mix in with who stays, laying a good foundation for next year’s recruiting. I’d like to see a nice unexpected pick-up sometime int the off-season. But not as much as seeing everyone return.

  • Pleasantly surprised with the new coach. Not a flinch. So far so good.

    I’m all in.

  • Fifer39

I think coach is saying that even though he didn’t recruit any of the current guys they are his, they are part of the program and he will treat them as if they’d been his recruits or his 2, 3 or 4 year guys. That doesn’t mean there won’t be changes and possibly even some changes that he initiates. I just think he will handle this in the right way, the same way as if he’d been coach for the last 4 years.

  • Spud Webb.

  • HoosierCruz

yeah I love CTC but he definitely was very heavy on the buzzwords

  • HoosierCruz

didn’t we have a couple guys ask for releases?

  • Ole Man

I really like the last one, Q & S….thought it was more “light hearted” and not so freakin’ serious in its approach.

  • cbags05

Basically he explained how he got to know who knight was by his dad watching videos of him, then met him when he was an analyst for a game, then went on to say he wouldn’t reach out and would honor him by doing a good job…He is his own guy and sounds ready to make a mark in a big way.

  • This was a great post and compilation. I would not have come across most of this on my own. Not knowing much about the new coach, this was very enlightening. Hats off to the ITH staff for this one! Excellent work and many thanks.

  • That’s a really good answer to a tough question.

  • AndyCapp

Absolutely agree that he will, and should, handle in his own way. I was just commenting on HoosierDom’s original post about being over-signed

  • Fifer39

Yes I agree with you. There are a number of reasons why recruiting shouldn’t stop.

  • Geoff_85

There are finally seniors, but you have to keep in mind the drastic change they’re going through. This could – and probably will – still take time. We gave Tom Crean a lot of years to adjust, and a lot of that was due to the fact that he had to build an entire program, but even though Archie is starting with much much more than Tom Crean did, we still have to give Arch some time to put this thing together.

  • Banner6

I’d say Arch has an “intensity with purpose” mentality. Good things to come.
