At the Buzzer: Michigan 90, Indiana 60

Quick thoughts on a 90-60 loss to Michigan:

How it happened: This one was never in doubt. Michigan came out red hot offensively and Indiana’s defense offered no resistance. Before the Hoosiers could even blink, the Wolverines led 16-4. And from there, it just got worse. The end result was Indiana’s worst loss of the season and the third worst conference loss to date under Tom Crean. The Hoosiers had built up some positive momentum coming into Thursday’s game with three straight wins. But this debacle put those performances into the rearview mirror. This was an uninspired performance from wire-to-wire. For a team that still has aspirations of making the NCAA tournament, Indiana put up no fight in Ann Arbor. This season has been one of ups and downs with plenty of twists and turns. The question is: Where do the Hoosiers go from here?

Standout performance: Robert Johnson gets the nod here by default. He finished with 14 points and five rebounds in 33 minutes.

Statistic that stands out: Indiana turned it over 16 times and Michigan scored 28 points off of those miscues. The Wolverines also shot 11-of-20 on 3s. All in all, it was a disastrous performance by the Hoosiers.

Yeah – we should be like UCLA and fire the coach after one bad season so the next one will be much better. After banners being flown to fire the coach, UCLA finally fired their coach and look how well they are ranked now. Oh wait…. they didn’t fire the coach? You’re saying sometimes it’s better to wait while injuries get recovered from? That the grass isn’t always greener after firing the coach (see fire Mike Davis = many great years of IU basketball the following 5 years)? That’s totally illlogical.

Looks like I made the right call canceling the BTN and ESPN at the beginning of 2017. Truly breaks my heart.

It’s been NINE years…how can you possibly think that this guy deserves more time? Nice guy, but he just is never going to get it done.

The formula is to jump the passing lanes and get the turnover on defense and on offense it is just to pass to the open man…there is always someone open.

Is there an echo in here? I think I just said that.

Thank you…thank you …thank you….I thought cuz I was cranking music at the gym in my headphones that my ears were messed up even though I heard rece davis find….Calhoun has to go. I’m sure he was hired on his basketball knowledge but what good is that if you can’t understand him. He talks too fast meshing his words together along with that gosh darn boston accent. He really needs to go. That’s why broadcasters go to school to learn how to slow down and enunciate. I ALMOST wished we had Dickie v.

I dont believe Alford or Crean are the answers to long tern sustainable program success. Not bad coaches. But not the coaches to make deep runs consistently. Both programs should have more good years than they do. Yes, IU had a nice year last year and UCLA is this year….. but the success is too inconsistent. Thats just MO……
