LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Class of 2015 Waynesville (Mo.) is one of the participants in this weekend’s Derby Festival Basketball Classic at Freedom Hall along with Thomas Bryant and O.G. Anunoby.

The teams arrived in the Derby city on Thursday afternoon and practiced at Male high school. Inside the Hall was there and caught up with Morgan before practice for a lengthy interview, which covered a variety of topics, including the impact he hopes to make on IU’s team next season:

    CANNOT WAIT!! HOO HOO HOOSIERS!!

  • BlakeD1223

I like this guy. The fact that he actually talks to the media and doesn’t act like he’s too cool when he talks makes me like him.

I wish IU basketball was year round. I would be grey haired and have much less hair but at least I’d be able to watch some IU ball.

  • ForeverIU

I love players who don’t think about themselves and just want their team to be #1.

Yes baby, #1 is the only ceiling for IU Basketball.

  • TomJameson

I really like it that he had a good idea of what his contributions will be (hustle plays and basics (blocking out)), and his needed improvement areas (shooting, ball handling, and weight room).

Sounded like a really good kid! Glad to see him in the candy stripes!

  • Sgmars23

Very well spoken. Love his attitude.

  • millzy32

Do any of our 3 guys play on the same team in this? Not sure what the format is for this. Thanks.

  • SCHoosier

Bright , articulate kid (as advertised). Great baritone voice…media school ought to come after him:) I know Morgan has put on some heft since his junior year. When he gets some IU weight room time..I expect him to be a force in the front line for the Hoosiers. I loved his ” near the basket is where I do most of my work.” IU can use some of that!

  • HoosierBuddy

All 3 of our future hoosiers are on the same team i have a link that is waiting to be approved that has full roster.

  • IU track Alumni

Well spoken kid with a teammate first attitude. These are the types of kids who keep your program strong. Talented and humble 4 year player that will do anything he’s asked to win ball games. I’m loving this class more and more.

  • PV Mike

Looks like he could be Iman Shumpert’s little brother.

  • Miamihoosier

Morgan is a better speaker than anyone we have on the team right now. TB isnt too bad either. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them regularly in the post game press conferences. This guy and Holt are going to have some wars in practice …love to see Devin Davis get in there and battle them too.

  • BMusic

    Very impressive young man.

  • ForeverIU

The best speaker since Luke Fischer, and Robert Johnson is a close second, although RJ and James are in competition for Team Stoic, LOL!

TB was nervous as heck in the last interview I saw, sort of like Noah when he started. Noah became a lot more confident and articulate towards the end, even developed a bit of an edge. First double-double for TB and that quiver in the voice will be a thing of the past.

  • hoosier93

I like him. Will we get to hear from OG and his headband?

  • hoosier93

If OG gets to wear the headband then we can make Chuck Norris like jokes.. but about a headband. Potential people! Lol

  • Zach

Wow this guy is really well spoken. Impressive. Looking forward to some highlights of all three guys from this weekend

  • ForeverIU

I keep wanting to call him Obi-Wan Kenobi. I hope he can bring some Jedi powers to help counter the likes of the Wisconsin Warlock.

  • Lance76

I see some VO in Morgan with that flash smile. Now the question is can he sing?

  • SilentBob

Well it seems the well spoken comment is already taken lol. But you can tell this kid comes from a military family. Stands up straight, maintains good eye contact, and projects his voice/ speaks with confidence. Don’t want to sound too old fashioned but that’s a lost art amongst my generation. Bottom line is this kid seems bright and apparently comes packaged with a great motor and work ethic. He is going to go places whether it through basketball or something else.

  • lawlson

LOL i usually refer to him as the witch doctor

  • dwdkc

I like the hair. That is all

  • Rkeg

Love this kid – going to be a fun year

    OG-Wan Anunoby?

  • Jrod

All I heard was garbage points. We needed this bad this year looking forward to next year!!!

  • Hoosier4life67

I didn’t hear any garbage points. Well, until now.

  • Bill Graham

I see CTC turning him into a stretch 4. Like a quicker Watford basically.

  • Shaggy_C

If you include it in his official measurement he is 6’10”!

  • Dbur72

Wow! This guy is fantastic. Should be an excellent year!

  • Jrod

It caught my ear this team needs a mad dog down low.
