  • 02/02/2012 3:05 pm in

The Hoosiers have a chance to redeem themselves in the most satisfying of ways Saturday – with a win in West Lafayette.

Hosts Matt Dollinger and Greg Rosenstein dive into Indiana’s upcoming battle at Purdue with Indianapolis Star IU beat writer Terry Hutchens and Indiana Daily Student columnist Avi Zaleon on the latest episode of Podcast On The Brink.

Among the topics discussed:

· The 68-56 loss at Michigan and how IU dug itself into such a deep hole

· The awesomeness of Big Ten officiating and how it changes the game

· Tom Crean’s usage of time outs and different lineup combinations

· How the Hoosiers stack up against Purdue and who will win

· Whether or not Indiana is still destined for a tournament berth

So tune in and let us know what you think about this week’s topics. As always feel free to drop us a note at podcastonthebrink@gmail.com.

Okay ITH Nation, twist my arm but I will do it…I am going back to the bar I watched the pUKe game at w/ the hopes that the winning will continue against PUke…

I am such a team player

  • gnrnabk1

Cant see this team winning any of their remaining road games.  Id like to see at least one more road win, but just cant see it happening.

We come out flat again the students at Mackey are going to get into these guys heads.

$20 we say this after the game “Welp, those Boilers wanted it more than we did”

  • Andrew_jellison

Youre joking right? We can beat Purdue, Iowa and Minnesota. The only road game we shouldn’t have lost was Nebraska. Mich st, osu, Michigan, Wisconsin all are really tough places to play. They’ve had issues on the road no doubt. But I think that they’ll win 2 of those games, maybe all three.

Unless we by some miracle we get Pac 12, SEC or Big 12 refs calling the game we wont win. Big Ten refs have to keep their home streak alive.

Avi was pretty critical of the starting lineup and needing to get it figured out. We had a set 5, but Coach Crean tried slotting Will Sheehey in, who many feel earned it. That’s not a big deal. He is making something of nothing there IMHO. “Panic mode” in terms of the starters? Why does changing the lineup for 2 games warrant that comment? If VJIII isn’t playing against PUke, this is the lineup that I would like to see:

    PG Hulls
    SG Oladipo
    SF Watford
    PF Elston
    C   Zeller

This would send a message to Will Sheehey that if he is going to start, he had better play well, or at least put in a better effort than he did against Michigan, if he wants to continue to start. Elston has earned the spot if an unfortunate injury occurred, and he should get it. I like Abell, but Elston has more experience and makes less mistakes. Sheehey and Abell are two high energy guys that you like coming off the bench.

To Will Sheehey and Christian Watford: If you aren’t motivated to play on Sunday, then nothing competition-wise will motivate you. Come out and play like you want to win FROM THE START. In case you aren’t aware, PUke fans love to chant “IU sucks!” when they’re squeaking out nailbiters at home to the likes of Iona and High Point. Shut those idiots up for crying out loud. Get one in Mackey and don’t steal it…beat them down!

PS, how much better does 18-6 (6-6) look better than 17-7 (5-7)??

  • IUJeff

Puck Furdue. IU needs this one bad. Hard to look at the large margin PUke has head-to-head vs IU. Need to start to change this now.

Also tired of hearing how PUke has a winning record against every B1G team.

This is where IU needs to put on their big boypants and put a smack-down on PUke.

  • Alas, Avi did not contact me (though his column was, nonetheless, superb).

  • Geoff_85

Got the lineup AND the beatdown that I wanted. 🙂
