Site News: Hey, you, signup for a Disqus Profile

  • 09/07/2010 2:41 pm in

One of the challenges of a booming community is moderating comments. By default, if you make a comment as a guest, your comment must first be filtered through a moderator before it appears on the site. This is done primarily to prevent profanity and limit the trolls from infiltrating the site.

To address this, we’ve added two comment moderators: eph521 and Kelin Zeller. Both have graciously volunteered their time to assist us and for that we are thankful. You’ll notice a blue star by each of their names in the comments.

(It didn’t, for the record, take much to convince Kelin. He’s on the site more than any of us. Only kidding, Kelin.)

Beyond that, the best course of action is to encourage all of our commenters to get a Disqus Profile.

If you’re already commenting frequently without a Disqus Profile, you can find your existing comments using your email address and bring them into your new Disqus Profile. Easy enough, right?

You only need three things to sign up: A username, a valid email address and a password.

Once you’re registered, your comments will no longer require moderation, you’ll be able to customize an avatar that will appear with all of your posts, you’ll be able to track and subscribe to the comments of others and you’ll also have the ability to edit or delete your comments.

What are you waiting for?

I love the fact that it has been reported Kanter was paid $100K by his turkish team…this is so so nice.

i’m laughing too. kentucky is going to be the next usc. only w/out the national championships. at least in football u don’t have one and dones. kentucky is built upon one and dones. u cant win national championships with them. sure u can get to elite 8s now and then….but no one cares unless its a national championship banner

Alex, do you know who INBRecruits is, and how they could be so misinformed?

  • Casey B.

As embarrassing as the Sampson debacle was, I can’t even imagine being a Kentucky fan. I can honestly say I would be ashamed to claim UK loyalty when there’s another reputation-damaging story coming out every other week.

  • I do not know who it is.

Please, NCAA, ban UK for life!!!!

Now I look at my 579 comments and wonder if the others without my smilin’ face have been counted.

  • Anonymous

God I need new glasses—I saw “INBRedrecruits” and thought it must be from Lexington.

I know he was the MVP at that big tournament, but I still thought he was too short to get me all hot and bothered as a power forward.

One of the reasons I always had a soft spot for George Zidek.

  • Anonymous

Nope, it doesn’t work that way. Most of them are so narrow-minded and entitled they just think it’s “Somebody tryin’ to get Coach Cal again.” Not sure what part of the state you’re in, but you ought to be down here where all you get is UK and U of L talk radio all day. Our local ESPN affiliate went belly-up, and the only other local channel calls itself “Cards Radio”. One of the shows on it is actually the “Joe B. and Denny Show”. Nauseating.

  • Anonymous

    That makes two of us.

And while we’re on the topic on inbreds, there seems to be alot of good news on the Enes Kanter front. Poor coach Cal the big bad meanies at the NCAA are just out to get him. Guess they are ” just jealous ” like the rest of the world.

  • IU_Fan_99

Azur, you do good work! Keep the mix tapes coming…

Kind of like the sun finally poking through the clouds (Kanter news) on a dark and dreary rainy day (BJY news).

I guess a person has had to either lived in the part of the state that we do or is living in the part of the state that we do and put up with what we do on a daily basis to be able to fully grasp the mindset of a pUKe fan. I guess it’s like so many other things in life in that seeing something from a distance or just reading about it is nothing compared to actually experiencing it. Remember it’s all because everyone else is just jealous of how great they are and everyone is out to get them because of said jealousy. Even typing that in a sarcastic manner just about made me throw up in my mouth.

Does anyone have the Midnight Madness/Hoosier Hysteria date off the top of their head? Can’t wait to be there.

  • Whoops, meant to hit reply and hit “like” (that keeps happening!)

Is that you with the old Lombardi trophy? Colts style? I’ve got one of those photos and I use it on the first day of class when I’m doing my “get to know your prof better” thing.

  • “Thinking about volunteering to stay up at night and exercise the knee he is rehabbing while he sleeps.”

That’s probably the best combination of fan and creepy since the dude who shot Ronald Reagan tried to hook up with Jodie Foster.

  • October 15.

  • The way UK fans are loyal to Cal mystifies me. I mean, Coach Knight choked a kid, and almost all of us looked the other way, but he’d been our coach for almost three decades by that point and he’d won us three championships. Cal’s been there for ONE year and hasn’t won jack. I guess I was willing to overlook a few (hundred) phone calls, but purposefully making too many calls and not making sure kids were in class (and letting them smoke pot) was too much. You just have to wonder how long it’s going to take before pUKe fans wake up.

Same night as the second night of Beerfest.

  • Outoftheloop

So now when I pick a position which is at variance to yours, you get to filter me? Ouch! Now about A Thomas……2K that is totally ridiculous! But Man this is NOT working! Two days ago I did the Disqus Profile, I have my password all set, but Disqus STILL does not recognize me! What else do I need to do?

  • Outoftheloop

The HT reported that the report of Yogi visiting IU today is an ERROR!

  • Outoftheloop

Yes, poor Enes ONLY got paid $6500/month plus housing for a total over $100,000, or as his agent said, “we think that this is just like going to a prep school in the US.” However, he took no classes, unlike a prep school in the US. OK this is a KY recruit, so all class and academic nonsense is waived, I forgot. But how can he have an AGENT make comments for him and not be a pro?

  • Outoftheloop

I saw that I had 684 comments and 67 points and 9 likes (guys, where is the love?). What are “points”? Are they good or bad? I have no clue.

  • What browser are you using? And do you have cookies enabled in your browser?

  • marcusgresham

Yeah, it’s the Colts’ Lombardi Trophy, but I have to admit I wish it were one of the 5 the Cowboys have (to match the Cowboys’ helmet tattooed on my upper arm.) They brought it to the Lucas Oil factory down here in Corydon. I liked how the handlers (like the guy you see behind me,) wore white gloves any time they moved it, but any greasy-handed schmoe like me could reach inside the glass case to fondle it all he wanted.

  • Anonymous

Now it shows 684 comments and 67 likes and 0 points, but I can no longer edit my own comments. Has the edit option now been removed?

  • Anonymous

Somehow Disqus just confirmed my email and it now seems to recognize me. I use Firefox. Thanks.

A Cowboys tattoo ? Really ? How did we both end up IU fans and from the same region of the state at that. Just kidding. Steelers were my number 1 team until the Colts arrived in Indy but they are still firmly entrenched at number 2. Those were some great games when they lined up against each other in Super Bowls. One of my best friends was a big Cowboys fan and it always made for good times, good arguments and it always made the beer taste a little bit better win or lose.

    Agree on AT.

    1) Hard to have too many wings with the style Crean plays especially quality ones and yes, IMHO, I think he would be just that.
    2) Have to believe he would not even listen to a pitch from Crean but wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t
    3) You never know when someone is going to go down with an injury (Mo Creek anyone )
    4) Something I’m thinking we will have to put into the equation in the near future is how many years will some of our recruits be at IU before they put their name in the draft.
    5) Everyone is always saying the scholly situation will work itself out. If you can get a quality player sign him and again IMHO he is a quality player.
    6) Looks like we will have enough quality bigs for the foreseeable future to need to use it on another big, because WE ARE going to get CZ. Must think positive. Must think positive.

    LOL

The motto of a true hard core IU fan : Success ? Whatever it takes….. (within the rules).

Mo has probably been peeking through his window blinds and double checking his deadbolt every night before he turns in ever since that post went up.

  • Anonymous

Now now you know he is not his agent he is his ” advisor “…not. The more I think about it after reading that article the more his ” advisor ” sounds like somebody out of the Turkish mafia.

I have slept since the last time that I read that article but I believe the Oak Hill coach wouldn’t take him when he first came to the U. S. and would not even play other teams if he was on their team.

Welcome aboard, jump right in and warm that keyboard up don’t wait until CZ signs to join in.

A lot of my comments end up with the edit square where the like square should be here lately or on my screen that is how they are. Don’t know what is causing that. KZ you are the computer teacher am I doing something to cause this ?

I was also wondering exactly what the “points” were.

  • Anonymous

hey iumike1, the edit button is there for your own comments, since you can’t ‘like’ your own. the points should represent the number of ‘likes’ your comments have received.

O K that was what I thought, I guess my poor 70’s decade abused brain must be failing me. It seems like in the past some of my comments had the like and reply squares and some had the edit and reply squares, guess not.

    Thanks

I filled out the profile and Disqus still does not recognize me. Can anyone fix it?
