Send along your get well wishes to Maurice Creek

  • 01/02/2010 1:41 pm in

A couple of our readers have requested that we create a virtual get well card to pass along to freshman guard Maurice Creek as he recovers from a fractured left knee. So we’ve done just that. Post your message to Creek in the comments and we’ll send this thread along to our contacts at Indiana.

    Maurice,

All Hoosier fans have been energized by your effort this season. You're a developing into an outstanding player and I know you will have a full and speedy recovery. Keep your head up and thank you for everything you've already done for the program.

I know you'll want to return as quickly as possible, but you've got a top notch medical staff monitoring your recovery, and there's no need to rush this. You've got a great career ahead of you. When you return to the team you're going to have some battle-hardened teammates ready to help you bring the Hoosiers back to the top.

Mo— Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and hope the New Year will bring good things for you and your family. Look forward to seeing you back on the court. God Bless!!

  • IUMIKE1

From the entire IU family to yours have a quick and complete recovery. Rehabing is never an easy thing but if you attact it the way you have attacked playing for our beloved Hoosiers you will have a speedy and complete recovery. It should be very obvious by now to everyone why people were hugging each other and jumping up and down on the day that you were finally cleared to play.

After hearing that your mom had addressed the team before the Michigan game and seeing how inspired they played we now know at least one of the biggest reasons why you are the incredible player that you are. She might just have a future as a motivational speaker. Maybe it could become a new game day tradition.

We all look forward to seeing you back on the court picking up right where you left off but we also look forward to seeing you on the bench ( even if it is in street clothes ) with the rest of your team because just as you coming to play for the Hoosiers was a step to bigger and better things so is you rejoining your team on the bench. You may not be out on the court for awile but you are still ( and always will be ) part of the Hoosier family and we will continue to support you.

God bless and God speed young man !!!!!!

This person has very profoundly put into words how I myself along with tens if not hundreds of thousands of people feel.

    Great Great post !!!!!!!!

Thanks for your commitment to play at IU. May God bless your recovery and your progress academically. As a graduate of IU (1964), I follow each game very closely and am looking forward to seeing you play again. I am proud of the strides the team is making. I'm very glad you chose to share your talent with Hoosier fans, like me!

Best wishes in your recovery. Take care of yourself. Take care of business off the court so you can take care of business on it next year. Concentrate on your studies and come back even stronger. Thanks for all you have done so far for us crazy fans. Good Luck to you!

  • SB_Hoosier

Get well soon Mo. Hopefully you can get back with your teammates soon and cheer them on like we are. Keep hitting the books, hang in there, and go get 'em next season!

Like most of the Indiana fans, my heart broke as I sat in my Denver living room watching you clutch your knee. During and after the game, I scoured the Internet looking for any news about the severity of your injury. I'm sure you're very disappointed–maybe the most disappointment you've ever faced. But as I saw this team rally to beat Michigan and heard the story of your mother addressing the team, my spirits rose a bit. I know this won't be easy, but you will be a stronger human being having gone through this. And this team will be better because of it, too. Get well, soon, Maurice. You've got a fan in Denver pulling for your speedy recovery.

  • hoosiergrad

Maurice, we're proud to call you a Hoosier. Get well. Can't wait to see you back out there next year.

  • Maurice Creek will be a household name in the basketball world. This is just a minor road block. Get back to full strength. The Hoosier Nation is here for you.

  • Krafty

Wishing you a full recovery…everyone in Southern Indiana is praying for you and looking forward to your contribution to the Hoosiers future success. Hang in there young man and thank you for choosing Indiana as your school of choice.

  • Megan K White

Get well soon. You are in my prayers for a speedy recovery. No one should ever have to be ripped away from something they love. I’m sorry that happened to you.

  • CutterInChicago

Maurice – best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. Look forward to seeing you on the court for the Hoosiers again soon.

  • derekphillips

Maurice, adversity is hard to handle at times, especially when things seem to be going great. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this trying time. My son and I have enjoyed watching you play this year and look forward to many more special moments when you take the floor at Assembly Hall. Keep your head up!

Maurice, YOU are the man! Godspeed in your recovery, stronger, better, faster. If you can legally do so, tap into the high school talent and bring us a stellar PF to compliment our front line.

My best to you and your solid family.

Maurice, get well soon. Lots of prayers going up for you. Nice to hear Coach talk about God differently then Coach Knight used the word God. So glad the surgery went well, not just for your basketball career, but for your future after your playing days are done. This team seems to have a lot of class. Not like the thugs and punks under sampson. May be hard to see this now but everything happens for a reason. Remember this Bob Knight quote, “most people have the will to win, few have will to prepare to win.” Take this time to prepare mentally for next season, and your academic future. But my guess is that you've got a pretty good head on your shoulders already. Can't wait to see you on the bench, even if it is in a suit and tie.

  • fozzydog

    Maurice,

Best of luck in your recovery. It's been great watching you play for IU so far, and I'm sure you're just getting started.

  • HoosierCrabbe

    Maurice,

It was a pleasure watching you play for the short time you did this season. You have really gotten me excited for the future of Indiana basketball after watching us struggle so much last season. I know you will have a speedy recovery and be ready to win big ten player of the year next year. You're a truly special player, and I can't wait to be at every home game next year rooting you on. All of hoosier nation is behind you!!

  • So_Cal_Hoosier

We'll miss seeing you on the court Maurice, but you better believe Hoosier Nation is ecstatic for your return next year.

  • Jim

Maurice you may think you can’t contribute to the team but that is not true. They will see how hard you work to get back on the court. The harder you work, the more they are inspired and win. So you have a great opportunity, granted not the one you or anyone wanted, but a great opportunity to contribute. I also echo Ben_M below!

  • hoosierlineman

    Hi Maurice,

I am a grad of Bloomington South — too many years ago! I have been a IU fan since before I could drive a car! I'm sorry to hear about your injury, but just do as the doctors say and when you can start doing PT, work hard. Hope to see you back on the Court real soon!

    Maurice,
Very best wishes to you for thorough and complete healing of that knee. You are such an exciting player – and seem like such a good man – that I really hope that you will as good as new after your recovery. Take very good care of yourself.

  • Michael and Pammy Morgan

My wife and I read through all the post here at ITH last night.
We want to first thank IU Team Physician Dr. Larry Rink and Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Steve Ahlfeld. With this great staff in place Maurice will make a 100% recovery. Secondly, we would like to thank Athletic Trainer Tim Garl. He has keep Pammy and I up to speed on Mo's progress daily if not more and will be spending a lot of time with Maurice to get him back to the court. As I type this Tim is sending me a picture of Mo working through PT. I want to thank all the players on our team as well as our support staff; J.D Campbell, Mattie White, Marni Mooney, Ed Sears, Beth McLaughlin, B.J. McElroy, Chris Reynolds, Rusty Stillions and Dr. J.D. Headdy.
Special thanks go to the Equipment manager Nicholas Vogt, Media folks Mason Revelette and Nathan Wiechers and all of our Managers; Patrick, Josh, Justin, T.J., David, Brandon, Michael, and Aaron for all your help.
To our coaching staff keep up the great work restoring Indiana University back to prominence in the Big 10.
Special thanks to Coach Bennie Seltzer who convinced Pammy and I that IU was the place where our son could grow as a young man in the class room as well as the Basketball court which made our decision that much easier.

To Coach Tom Crean, for his tireless efforts recruiting Not only Maurice but the hole Morgan family. Your love for my son and all your boys don’t go unnoticed. Stay tough on them. When they look back years from now they will only smile from the great time they had at Assembly Hall.

Now To the Inside the Hall family, this card is unbelievable!
For my son to touch so many is humbling. When Maurice and I started this way back when Maurice was 3 going on 4 I used this tool of Basketball just for him to open up to me. I used this tool called basketball to teach him. I knew he would always follow me when I would go out on “The hill” to shoot hoops. What Mo didn’t know was I was just trying to make him comfortable with me. We would play and talk, talk and play. We would be up there for hours. I would look down at the window and Pammy would be watching. I would tell her the thing Mo and I would talk about and she would be blow away. This never stopped to this day. Now when we hit the courts he might do a little schooling to me now and then but the talks never stop. We came here to “Restore the Filling”; The filling of Greatness when you walk into Assembly Hall. We will not rest until that happens.

Mo, your emergence this year has brought hope back to our prorgram. You are no doubt one of the puzzle pieces that will get us back into Big Ten championship contention.

We all felt your pain when you went down against Bryant trust me. It ruined my day.

This program needs you man. Please do all of the right things to get back where you were if not better. The Hoosier Nation is behind you! Peace.
