IU football rises to No. 3 in AP poll, coaches poll after Saturday’s victory at Oregon
IU football has its highest-ever national ranking following its week seven win at Oregon.
The Hoosiers traveled to Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon and silenced the home crowd with a convincing 30-20 victory.
The win, which snapped the Ducks’ 18-game home win streak, was enough to lift IU into the top three of both national polls released Sunday afternoon. It was a four-spot rise in both polls for the Hoosiers.
Saturday’s win, IU’s first ever on the road against an AP top-five opponent, was enough to earn votes at No. 1 for the program.
IU received a No. 1 vote in the coaches poll and three votes at No. 1 in the AP poll.
Indiana is behind Ohio State, last season’s national champion, and Miami (FL), in both polls.
Before this week, IU football had never been ranked higher than No. 4 in a national poll. The Hoosiers were ranked No. 4 in the AP poll back in 1967.
Indiana began the season ranked No. 19 in the US LBM coaches poll and No. 20 in the Associated Press top 25 poll.
The Hoosiers broke into the top 10 of both polls after their 20-15 win against Iowa at Kinnick Stadium in week five. IU was idle in week six but moved up two spots in the coaches poll and one spot in the AP poll as multiple top-10 teams fell.
The first College Football Playoff rankings for the 2025 season will debut on Tuesday, November 4, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
