Film Session: Marshall

On the strength of a 17-0 run, Marshall amassed a 12-point lead on the Hoosiers in the first half on Saturday evening. The Thundering Herd hit a couple of tough mid-range shots and a 3-pointer during that stretch. But Indiana’s defense, particularly from its young bench corps, left much to be desired, allowing Marshall easy looks at the rim.

We’ll talk a look at Indiana’s defensive shortcomings during that Marshall 17-0 run, as well as Trayce Jackson-Davis’ second half passing out of a double team, in the latest edition of Film Session:

With the Hoosiers still up three, Taevion Kinsey begins to take a ball screen from Obinna Anochili-Killen. But as Anochili-Killen slips the screen, things break down for Indiana. Tamar Bates opens up and runs into Anochili-Killen a bit even though he’s slipped the screen. With Jordan Geronimo moving with Anochili-Killen and the Thundering Herd 5-out and the strong side empty, Kinsey has plenty of room to drive straight to the rim. Miller Kopp comes from the weak side on the help defense, but he’s no match for Kinsey at the rim.
