On Indiana’s last play of the game in overtime, the Hoosiers set four across on the baseline with Phinisee up top with the ball. Jackson-Davis and Thompson pop up:

With Jackson-Davis being fronted, Phinisee passes to Thompson:

Phinisee cuts to the right corner and sets a down screen for Durham:

Durham breaks out of the screen towards the basket as Thompson passes to Phinisee:

Durham ends up cutting up the paint with Jackson-Davis and Thompson setting up an elevator screen for him. This is the same action we saw for Franklin late against Illinois, just on the opposite side of the court:

Penn State snuffs it out, however. Harrar comes out on Durham and Jamari Wheeler even leaves Franklin open in the corner to double Durham and prevent the pass. This allows Jackson-Davis space to cut to the basket:

Brockington rotates to Jackson-Davis with Harrar and Wheeler still out on Durham. Franklin calls for the ball in the corner. With just six seconds left on the shot clock, Phinisee opts to drive left:

With Harrar rotating back to Jackson-Davis and Wheeler near Durham, Phinisee keeps coming left into the gap. Franklin continues to call for the ball:

Phinisee opts to hold onto the ball as Harrar is now back to Jackson-Davis. Brockington rotates off Jackson-Davis to Franklin:

With the defense rotated to Indiana’s open players, Phinisee jump stops and turns back left:

He shoots the step back over Jones for the game-winner:

Here’s another play where maybe Phinisee should have passed and hit Franklin a little earlier before the defense rotated back to him. Instead, Phinisee took matters into his own hands with confidence, hitting a seriously tough shot for the win.
