Now up seven in the second half and closing in on their 10-point advantage, Robbie Beran sets a ball screen for Spencer:

Justin Smith hedges and shuts Spencer’s drive down:

Smith recovers back to Beran. Spencer now gets another ball screen, this time from Jared Jones:

Jackson-Davis hedges to cut Spencer off again. So he turns around. As Smith gives attention to Jones on the roll, Beran cuts hard to the basket off the wing:

As Smith looks to recover back to Beran, he looks and can’t find him. Spencer makes the pass to Beran:

Jerome Hunter doesn’t rotate over on the pass. Instead he’s inched a little more out to his man. Smith realizes Beran has cut behind him far too late:

Beran puts it in for two with no Hoosiers near him. Jackson-Davis puts up his hands, wondering what the heck just happened:

Over the first 75 percent of the contest, these lack-of-awareness plays from the Hoosiers came far too often.
