Morgan sets a ball screen for Green up top. Kaleb Wesson is now back in the game. And instead of parking in the middle of the paint surveying the scene, he’s got a hand on Davis on the left high post:
This actually allows for Morgan to roll and Green threads the pass. Kaleb Wesson shuffles over to Morgan:
Kaleb Wesson is able to offer pretty good help defense, and Morgan’s shot attempt just misses:
Herein lies the difference between Smith and Davis in this contest: Kaleb Wesson has to honor Davis and it allows room in the paint for pick-and-roll ball screen offense to actually operate.
