McRoberts enters the ball to Morgan as Hartman sets a screen for Devonte Green:

Morgan turns and faces the basket. Julian Moore doesn’t follow Hartman out to the left wing as both he and Nazeer Bostick stick on the right wing. Hartman sees space to the paint and takes it:

Morgan makes the pass:

Hartman slices in and scores:

Poor defense from Penn State on this one, but nice work from Morgan and Hartman to quickly recognize it here for the score.

I love to see everyone moving without the ball.

  • Sarasota Hoosier

Hartman playing sound fundamental basketball, never see him get an illegal screen call against him, he understands the game of basketball better than any other Hoosier.

RJ’s cuts against Minn, and many of the looks here, will be harder against teams with a true rim protector. Hopefully they’re working on that with these extra days of practice between PSU & NW.

This style of offense is probably best suited to our current talent. The key is for the defense to respect the outside shooting of our bigs so that they can’t just sit back and protect the rim. If Juwan, Collin, and Justin can make some outside shots, the bigs will have to come out. This is essentially what Wisconsin has been doing with their swing offense for years. In my opinion with DD out, this is the best use of our talent. Our bigs are pretty mobile and our guards are not good spot up shooters, so if it works, it should open up the middle for us.

ZM and JM are both pretty savvy as well. As been noted, JM played 38 minutes without a foul, and he is a high-level defender and rebounder. Impressive.

One of the purposes of motion is to get the defense out of position, rim protectors included.

Yeah, length and athleticism pose a problem for every offense, but the fundamentals don’t change.

Just love seeing an offense ran!

  • and screens off the ball, set plays whats not to like.

    What? No “weave and heave”?

JMo has been our season savior. Where would we be without him? He does a little of everything, and does it as good as anyone on the court most nights. He has been great, what a transformation we are seeing. Glad he is healthy to display what he can really do.

Just great movement offensively and defensively. No longer are we standing around watching. It is amazing this is the same team from the Indiana State game.

I agree! One intangible to the game often overlooked today is “basketball smarts”. One of the best was Larry Bird. Critics said he was too slow & couldn’t jump, etc. What they failed to recognize was his savvy approach to the game. On a much smaller scale, CH & ZM both provide that advantage for this team.

JM has indeed been the leader and warrior for this team, and I enjoy watching when he is joined by CH, ZM, JS & RJ.
