Max Hoetzel calls out for someone to pick up Showalter, his man, who’s coming through the lane behind Hartman:

As Dekker moves into the lane, Hartman picks him up, while Williams now has Showalter. This leaves Hoetzel to deal with the bigger Hayes on the block while Ferrell is again left to front Kaminsky:

But as the Wisconsin offense keeps bodies moving, Ferrell calls out for Hoetzel to move down to the post:

But as Hoeztel throws his momentum that way and stops seeing Ferrell’s pointing, he’s actually re-directed Hoetzel to the left corner to pick up Dekker. Showalter starts bringing the ball to the paint as Kaminsky comes through on Hartman:

With Hoetzel still a bit confused and sunk down more towards the block, Showalter makes the pass to the open Dekker:

Like Hartman on the first play above, Hoetzel closes out poorly and gives space and an angle to the hoop. Dekker takes it:

Hoetzel fouled Dekker from behind on his dunk and Dekker would complete the and-1 opportunity at the line to put the Badgers up 19 during their run to start the second half:

Poor fundamentals and awareness for the freshman here. Hoeztel had defensive issues all game, as he fouled out in just 13 minutes of action.
