In a televised announcement on ESPNU, class of 2014 forward-center Goodluck Okonoboh announced his commitment to UNLV.

Okonoboh, the No. 24 prospect in the 247Composite, also considered Duke, Florida, Indiana and Ohio State.

The Wilbraham and Monson Academy (Mass.) took an official visit to Indiana the weekend of Sept. 13-15 and later visited Ohio State and UNLV prior to his announcement.

“They had the best blueprint for me. I’m just excited to be a Rebel,” Okonoboh said on ESPNU of his decision to attend UNLV.

Indiana has one commitment for the 2014 class – guard Robert Johnson – but is hosting Devin Robinson this weekend for an official visit. On paper, the Hoosiers have one more scholarship to give in the class.

Your missing looking at our current roster, 6 freshman and 4 sophmores… Crean is a fine recruiter and will probably have a 2 man class that will contribute, you cant get top 5 classes every year

  • Joe Pop

    lol

  • IUDan

I think I know why … You don’t seem to post regularly except to say 1) I know something (yet you don’t), 2) I told you so, and/or 3) there is a big problem at IU…

All of those scenarios are childish and unconstructive. If you want a real discussion, start by acting like an adult

  • Ole Man

Agree! Don’t always understand his Xs & Os, but to bring IU back from the dead as he has in such a short time is incredible.

  • Ole Man

I think by the time Luke’s a Jr.and Hanner is a Sr. that we will be a force in the middle.
B1G, as you well know, is rough and tumble under the boards–have to gain muscle and weight; have to learn the “tricks of the trade”, and just as important, have to gain respect from the refs. That normally takes a couple of years.
I also don’t think that we keep Vonleh more than two years.

  • james

Well said my friend, couldn’t agree with you more

  • Ole Man

Like those thoughts. Think 2014 is when we really begin to make noise again.

  • Ole Man

    ROFL!

  • VAHoosier

I agree, but GO would need time for these things, as well. My point is that we have some good, young front-court players now, and missing out on one recruit is not all that significant. I don’t think we are looking too thin in the middle right now even if we don’t pick up a big man for 2014.

  • Corey Dunigan

This is not a disco so nobody wants to listen to your Jive!

  • hoosier1158

Please take all of your rude comments and just go away!

  • Corey Dunigan

That is the real reason. Another way to say all you do is Jive.

  • Corey Dunigan

Exactly, that is why even kids who commit elsewhere speak about how IU fans are some of the most well versed and knowledgeable fans in the land.

I’m going to Hoosier Hysteria tonight. There will be 16K more fans at that practice than the Mountain West Title game… and like Iverson said, “were talking bout practice”.

  • David Macer

How about Bob Bender, Mark Haymore, Rich Valivious ?? Are you old enough to remember them too ???

  • art garrelli

    nope

  • David Macer

We don’t need a one and done. Don’t care if he is the second coming of Michael Jordan and LeBron James. That is not the IU way.

  • art garrelli

uwe blab era i was in hs

  • art garrelli

    thats such an ignorant statement

  • WhatsUpKnight

and let’s not forget larry bird. not quite as good as uwe, but still…

YOU JERK! JUST YOU WAIT AND SEE, TROLL! WE’RE GOING TO GET DEVIN ROBINSON! AND YOU BETTER PRAY YOUR GUYS DON’T MEET OURS IN THE TOURNAMENT! THAT IS, IF YOU EVEN MAKE IT TO THE BIG DANCE! AND BENNETT IS OVERRATED!

  • art garrelli

get your facts straight clown .. MWC TITLE GAME IS HELD ON UNLVS HOME COURT AND IS SOLD OUT EVERY YEAR.. FYI> ARENA HOLDS ALMOST 19K WHICH IS BIGGER THAN ASSEMBLY HALL

  • art garrelli

  • art garrelli

    true reggie theus

  • art garrelli

    thats a good 1

  • art garrelli

your football team would smash us

  • Snookafly

Wow, my apologies. I didn’t realize I had offended a genius. I still say that Vegas has a lot of new and shiny things, but there is nothing of real beauty.

  • IU4Life

The way it’s going we may not have scholarships available for 2015. Etherington is now a redshirt sophomore. The only way is if someone goes pro or transfers.

  • art garrelli

unlv has had 1 kid who was one and done and that was bennett (in programs history)

  • Corey Dunigan

It was not a literal reference.

Clown? Like wearing a wig and dressing like an old grandmother?

“Lmao Not” is right on though.

  • Snookafly

You’re right in that they are both untested. Fischer may be a dominant big man right away, but I think he’ll need more development over the next two years. GO’s offense is not great either but he defends at an elite level. However, I have not seen or read of one aspect of Fischer’s game that blows people away. If you could add GO’s defense, as a way to take pressure of Vonleh down low, it could help us immediately. While he is 6’9 and skinny now, so was Vonleh at this time last year.

  • art garrelli

The Runnin’ Rebels’ home games last season had an average crowd of 15,196 (22 games/334,320 total fans), which ranked 14th in the country and No. 1 in both the Mountain West and among all programs on the West Coast (states of California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington). It is also the fifth straight season the program has earned top home attendance figures among those states. Not bad for such a joke of a program

  • art garrelli

indiana is 4th with avg 17k see i speak truths

  • art garrelli

Be open minded and read some of the BS written about las vegas and unlv

  • Perry Smithe

First of all 100% of the people posting on this site claim they know something or otherwise they wouldn’t have anything to say. Second, I don’t play the I told you so game. Third, there are people that do feel there are problems at IU. Especially when 2 in-state committs back out in 1 recruiting class. I don’t see what is childish about trying to get to the bottom of what is happening and why? Maybe you aren’t really an IU fan if you just bury your head in the sand and say all is well and all will be fine.

  • art garrelli

    lol ty edit

  • art garrelli

    chop chop dont cry

  • IUDan

It’s childish to do it the way you do – like a broken record – over and over again with the same “sky is falling” nonsense … It’s not. I’m beginning to think the “problem” with the 2014 class might not be with IU … Given how’s many have de-committed.

This happens to MANY programs after they bring in a large class – the next year or two are lean … If we had 4 spots and were struggling, that is a problem. We have 1, and it could be filled this weekend.

  • Perry Smithe

Who is filling that spot this weekend?

  • Gregory Spera

Don’t take it personally. And it’s not just that your opinions are unpopular. The last comment of mine that was deleted had seven up votes at the time it was removed.

  • Jamie Rund

..and GO is not an offensive treat at this time.

  • Noah Croak

    haha love it. good analogy!
