Video: Class of 2017 Indiana signee Clifton Moore

  • 12/16/2016 10:51 pm in

The third player to commit to Indiana in the class of 2017 was Hatboro-Horsham forward Clifton Moore, who pledged to the Hoosiers earlier this fall following his official visit to Bloomington.

The 6-foot-10 Moore is a three-star prospect and the No. 187 player nationally according to the 247Composite. Moore finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds in a 70-44 win over Upper Moreland on Friday, Dec. 16.

Here’s a comprehensive video look at Moore’s performance against Upper Moreland, which also includes missed shots, assists and a few other plays, to give a better feel for what the Hoosiers are getting in the rising senior.

(Thanks to Hatboro-Horsham School District for full game footage.)

Update: Hatboro-Horsham School District has requested the video be removed. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Send it in big fella! He’s come a long way since the video from last year.

Thanks Alex. I’ve been wanting to see something more recent of Clifton.

  • Dean Olson

He’s got quite the scoring touch. Perhaps it was due to the score, but I wouldn’t hate to see a bit more motor, especially given he looks like he should be able to score at will against a team like that.

  • I know he was playing against more or less a JV team, but this kid has a unique skill set for his size.

  • Ian Karanovic

I liked the full court drive off the board for the dunk. He looked fast and capable with the ball in his hands. The pull up and turnaround baseline jumpers were the most impressive highlights, however. I know the efficiency guys don’t like those shots, but he looked very comfortable and didn’t fade away (much). That’s a weapon to be developed further that nobody on this IU team possesses.

Alex, I for one really appreciate the more realistic clips that you put out. Getting that “better feel” is much better than the somewhat misleading clips of only highlights. Thank you.

I watched a little of that game, and I have to say that I was impressed with how Clifton handled the ball. Great hands, looked like a 6’10” guard. LOL

He could have gotten more shots, but he didn’t seem to be a “black hole”. I didn’t see the box scores (too lazy to look), but he had some assists as well as the 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Clifton Moore will turn out to be a great addition to IU, and a good fit. One of those hidden gems that CTC seems to have an eye for.

If Clifton is willing to put the hard work in, CTC will make him into a star at IU!! The kid is gonna love CTC system!!

  • BannerOrBust

This kid is going to be a diamond in the rough.

  • SCHoosier

U can say that again!. How about the cross over and slam from top of key and the “euro-step” coast to coast. Kid has a very soft touch from the perimeter. Nothing but upside. Job number one…physical strength improvements. He is getting his shot off quicker than the last tape I saw. Biggest downside..he has not played against much serious competition.

  • BC Hoosier

The upside and potential is off the charts. Compared to the last few clips I’ve seen, he looks a lot more comfortable handling the ball and playing on the perimeter. He looks more athletic and more developed physically as well. With his length, size, and continued skill development, he will fit in perfectly. I see him playing a CWat type role in CTC system.
I’m not sure how much he will contribute next year but I think IU and their staff got another gem. I still think IU will need to add another big (maybe grad. transfer) to play down low, rebound, and rim protect. I see CM as more of a wing/stretch 4.

  • Sandra Wilson

For so many people complaining when he signed, he appears to have a giant upside…..Seems very skilled for his size and age, even if the competition is weak…..Also amazing to me are the crowds at these games….We had more at middle school games in Indiana than this, but that’s Indiana basketball.

    Poor man’s Jerod Jeffries?

  • Outoftheloop

Clifton will be the next BIG find-develop-send off after 3 years to the NBA for Coach Crean and IU! What a steal at #187! He reminds me of Jared Jefferson on our last Final Four appearance team. I predict that Clifton will be great!

  • Piker

    Another good class coming in.

  • Outoftheloop

That will depend on who leaves for the NBA. If all 3: James, OG, and Thomas go, then Clifton will start and be a primary scorer by February, as a #3, with DeRon and Juwan upfront, and Robert and Curtis at the arc!

  • Outoftheloop

    Was Jerod a McDonalds AA?

  • Donnie Vick

    I believe so

  • BC Hoosier

I think the kids going to be a player, but a starter and primary scorer next year maybe a stretch. IU will have Morgan, Justin Smith, Freddy, and possibly Hartman on the wing. IU is alot more likely to start a three guard lineup with JN, before Moore starts.

  • Courtney Graber

Agreed. Reason to be optimistic about the future. Helps after a loss to Butler. Big picture and all that.

  • Courtney Graber

I don’t see him getting a ton of minutes year one.

Note: Cliftons teammate, Jay Davis, scored 30 in this game.
