Thomas Bryant expected to attend Hoosier Hysteria

Indiana is expecting a major visitor at Saturday’s Hoosier Hysteria.

For the second straight weekend, class of 2015 Huntington Prep (W.V.) big man Thomas Bryant will be in Bloomington. The 6-foot-10 post player was in town last weekend for his official visit and sources tell Inside the Hall that he’ll follow that up with a trip on Saturday for Hysteria.

Two of his Huntington Prep teammates, Curtis Jones and Miles Bridges, are also expected to attend. A full list of visitors expected for Hysteria is available in our premium forum.

Bryant was a standout in July’s EYBL Finals at the Peach Jam and was a big reason that his Team SCAN program advanced all the way to the event’s semifinals.

Over five games at the Peach Jam, he averaged 16 points and 10.5 rebounds. He also had 10 blocks, hit 19 of his 22 free throws and made 62.9 percent of his field goals.

Bryant is currently rated as the No. 25 prospect nationally according to the 247Composite.

Indiana began to recruit Bryant heavily over the summer and he told Inside the Hall in July that the opportunity to play multiple positions is a major selling point for the program.

“They let guys do more than just one position,” he said. “You can come in as one position and train at a different spot, too. You never know when you may need to play another spot or in a different position against another player.”

Bryant is also considering Missouri and Syracuse.

When did a recruit outside the top 300 become a “major visitor” for Indiana basketball? Don’t get me wrong, the kid’s got talent and I’m a big “ranking guy”, but come on..

  • Guyton25

ESPN’s got him sittin at #16. Let’s show him a good time tomorrow!

  • Ole Man

    Who are you talking about?

  • Ole Man

He fell in love last weekend. So, if she doesn’t break his heart before spring, he signs with IU.
    That’s my theory. LOL!

  • Kyl470

For some reason I have a feeling UNC won’t get punished that hard. Now if it were UNC-Charlotte they would probably get the death penalty. Since it’s UNC they will probably just loose like one scholarship a year.

  • Ole Man

If Bryant signs, at least 3 of our players don’t carry over. Which three is anyone’s speculative guess.

  • TomJameson

Jon, in all seriousness I though the same way until I bit the bullet. Now am really glad i did. My advise is to go for it, but keep up in both places because they’re both great

  • ForeverIU

And her name is … Indiana!

  • ForeverIU

You mean this spring? Don’t get it. Can he do that, according to the rules? You mean as a walk-on?

This is extremely encouraging news so let’s give him the warmest welcome possible! I’d be so excited if we actually pulled this off. BUT ITS HOOSIER HYSTERIA EVE AND I GET MORE EXCITED FOR HH THAN MY OWN BIRTHDAY

What’s the word on TJ Leaf after the cancelled Duke trip?

  • IUMIKE1

Most excited to see HMP, cause he will be such a big factor in how good we are going to be and it will be our first real glimpse to see if the off season hype is for real or just that, hype. I’m betting it’s somewhere in between and that the middle of the season, or a little past that, is when we see the high level of play that some are predicting from him at the start of the season. Here’s to hoping I’m wrong and he’s all that, and more, right from the start.

  • IUMIKE1

Lol, typed my comment on this thought before I read yours. I’ve always been told great minds think alike.

  • IUMIKE1

Very good comment, upvote given and agree 100%, but we never fully type out the name of that big blue cesspool from Lexington, and it’s also kinda an unwritten rule that “that guy” is referred to as, “he who’s name is not spoken or typed out”, or something along those lines. Bad juju. lol

  • IUMIKE1

If he gets tired of thinking about this and that he can’t talk about it, he can always switch over and do some thinking on the other case that he can’t speak about, you the one that was just recently allowed to move forward that allows some former student managers sue him. lol

  • IUMIKE1

Probably more of a, if it looks like someone is going to start talking about that subject I’m going to stick my fingers in my ears and start singing so I can officially say I never heard it, type of thing. At any rate there isn’t a whole lot of difference between that type of “not knowing” and actually being aware of it going on.

  • IUMIKE1

Yep feel the same. I was reminded by another ITH’er the other day of a great quote from Jerry Tarkanian when he was at UNLV, ” I can tell that the ncaa is mad at pUKe cause they just gave, insert lower mid-major’s name here, two years probation.

  • IUMIKE1

Big upvote given and wishing I could upvote it a bunch more times !

  • IUMIKE1

With statements like, who’s saying that he’s even married. lol

  • IUMIKE1

If he comes up with a cure for that and tries to practice it, well let’s just say that, “he’ll be swimin’ wit da fishes, ya know, da ones dat swim at da bottem” lol

  • IUMIKE1

….but keep that thought, it can’t hurt anything.

  • IUMIKE1

Ole Man, put those matches down and reel that bait back in. lol

  • ForeverIU

Yeh we’ll break his knee caps lol.

  • To feel sorry for Boeheim and Williams (Or Crookapari for that matter), is kinda like feelin’ sorry for a ‘snake oil’ salesman.. Just can’t bring myself to do it…

Connecticut got in trouble with a slap on the wrist a couple years ago. A lot of good that did as they won the title the next year. These teams will get a slap on the wrist. The NCAA is a joke. Steve Alford posed for a charity calendar better suspend him. Skyles arrested on drug charges? Get him in the MSU lineup as quickly as possible.
