Watford’s shot to beat Kentucky wins ESPY award

The calendar may have recently shifted to July, but Christian Watford’s shot to beat No. 1 Kentucky back on December 10 is still garnering national attention.

Watford’s buzzer-beater beat out fifteen other top plays to win the ESPY award for best play on Wednesday night.

Watford accepted the award from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and actress Zooey Deschanel.

“First off I’d like to thank God for this experience and opportunity, I wouldn’t be here without him,” Watford told the crowd at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. “I’d also like to thank my family and Coach Crean for being out here to support me.

“I’d also like to thank my teammates. Special thanks to Cody Zeller and Verdell Jones. I definitely wouldn’t be up here without you guys. I’m thankful to the Hoosier Nation and everybody who voted for me.”

I noticed when Wat walked up Davis was in the front row sitting on his hands. He did applaud after Wat’s comments though. Next maybe ..Hoosiers can have the spotlight again for a somewhat more significant achievement.

I would like to also see the video of Slimapari’s face just as much if not more. Just happened to be reading VJ3’s twitter last night and he made a comment about the look on Calicheaters face. If i could get a still of that it might just be the first time that I frame something pUKe and hang it on the wall. lol

Haven’t seen a video available yet, Mike, but Scott Agness does have a split-screen photo of CTC and Calipari on both his Twitter feed and on his websit at vigilantsports (dot) com.

They won a National Championship and pretty nice pay raises. They’re probably over it at this point.

This was AWESOME – I agree…. But I will never forget being on spring break skiing in Utah (how weird was that for a Hoosier boy!) with my good buddy and sitting in this crazy bar in Park City watching the Kieth Smart corner jumper for the win in 1987. Now that…. That was awesome! It didn’t hurt that everyone else was rooting for that other, nameless team – or that my uncle had left us a closet full of beer!

Thanks soooo much made my day. That should have had a caption under it that said “and that right there is why I’m not going to play IU anymore” or “and people wonder why I had to find a way out of playing IU anymore”. lol
