Video: James Blackmon Jr. Highlights at Best of the Midwest

Ft. Wayne Luers and Spiece Indy Heat guard James Blackmon Jr. is regarded as one of the nation’s best shooters in the class of 2014, but the IU commit is working to expand his game off of the dribble this summer.

Inside the Hall was in attendance at last week’s Best of the Midwest in Indianapolis and we’ve compiled over 90 seconds of Blackmon Jr. video which is available in the embedded media player below. (Note: You can expand the video to full screen by using the arrows in the bottom right hand corner of the player.)

Love it.  Smooth, great looking shot, solid handle and then a nice drive-dunk mixed in.

He’s just so smooth! It’s crazy. And his athleticism is really coming along.

Nasty.  He is a bball player.  He can score.  Similar to Bryan’s comment, his athleticism is really coming along, nice to see that dunk through traffic mixed in there.

He will take full advantage of an experienced Yogi setting up his j.  Make it rain!

This kid should draw more than 6 comments. He’s smooth and consistant and will be a huge player for IU.  He’s not even started his sophmore season yet and could hold his own with our current players.

Wow, we are lucky and I hope Crean continues to recruit him to keep all the snakes away.

Our 2014 class could be sick.

Sometimes I see players that almost bore me. James Jr, Jeremy H., etc.
They are so smooth and make it look so easy that it almost puts me to sleep.

Then I remember they are going to be suiting up for IU, and all the boredom goes away. Total excitement takes over.

    Ummm…Dear All,

I apologize for the punctuation in my original post above. I swear that I do not hate line breaks or rage against multi-paraphraph text. Nor am I German.

So, I’m not sure what happened to all my paragraphs. Perhaps a moderator decided it was too long, anyway, and mercifully decided to dissuade ITH readers from wasting a good chunk of their individual days. Perhaps my iphone developed a sense of humour and decided that witnessing me suffer its virtual keyboard is not already enough of a practical joke. I know not.

Anyway…weird…and, go, IU, and get Zak Irvin.

We will not have a problem scoring in the near future.

It’s like he puts just the exact precise amount of effort and energy to get the specific task done perfectly every time and nothing more.  No wasted energy.  If he needs to just lay it in and score it happens.  If he needs to elevate and posterize someone he just goes up and does it.  Similiar to Hollowell I will agree.  These two are just efficient players and will be fun to watch soon.

He is as calm, cool, and collected as George Gervin was.  He just nails jumper after jumper with ease.

I just hope there are enough basketballs to go around with all these scorers we have coming in.  Hopefully they can buy into the program gaining national exposure and not try to get individual exposure.  Not that there are any signs of this, just an idea to toss around.

Once I beat his dad at horse at marion high school. but that was in ’97.
