State of the Hall: October 11, 2010

  • 10/11/2010 8:24 am in

Hello again, friends. Thank you for continuing to read and support our great community. The latest numbers we’ve reviewed indicate that 34,000 of you are reading us each month. That means you’re filling up Assembly Hall. Twice. If we said that back in June of 2007 we imagined that the site would have come this far, well, we’d be lying.

As the beginning of the season grows closer everyday, we once again come before you to ask for your support of Inside the Hall.

A couple of things to point out:

The site is free and will continue to be free for everyone to read. Much of the information we publish is considered to be “premium” elsewhere. We began with a goal of building a community that would be available to and resonate with all IU fans and we feel like it’s been mission accomplished so far. 64,000 comments later, we feel like we’re well on our way.

Plans for the season:

Last season, we had our first experience on press row at Assembly Hall and once again, we’re planning to provide the same type of coverage for home games. Only this season, we expect it to be better. Alex will continue providing multimedia coverage (presser video and audio), Ryan will continue penning the Minute After, the best postgame IU baskebtall read anywhere on the Web and Zach will join Alex for in-game coverage at Assembly Hall, adding another valuable perspective to the fold. And Chris Korman will be around here and there, too.

And yes, we will continue our recruiting coverage that we’ve ramped up recently and the Pick to Click will return for a second season.

Where you come in:

Collectively, the best way for us to make all of this happen is to ask for your support. We’re not asking for a monthly donation and by no means should you feel obligated. If you are able to offer support, please be assured that your contribution will go directly towards supporting costs associated to maintaining the site (server, writer compensation, travel costs.)

We’ve decided the best way to approach this is essentially have a “donation drive” once before the season starts.

If you’re able to contribute, please click the Make a Donation button in the top right corner next to the search bar. We look forward to your feedback and questions.

Yogi Ferrell at Hoosier Hysteria Friday Night is going to be BIG TIME! Here that Cal, you may not want to drive up 65 anymore and cross the border for ‘Indiana” kids….

Hey All, been reading since day 1 and plan on getting to commenting more. You’re my homepage on my phone and laptop and I check the site compulsively for the newest update or to read more comments by everyone. This is by far the best Hoosiers site on the web and I love the insight the writers and commenters provide. Since moving from the great state, this site has become that much more important to get my IU basketball fix. Thanks and donation is on the way!

  • I’ll send you an email. Thanks for the support.

  • Yogi Kelin Zeller

Jeff I gotta say I knew ITH and Hoosier fans were everywhere and loyal but I think you are the furthest away…..awesome ….

  • Raybert

Ok, I’m on board!!! Have been reading since denim shirt. After reading comments all this time one can get intimidated about contributing, thinking I don’t perhaps have the basketball knowledge of some of my fellow ITH brotha’s. My guess is there is a whole bunch of “me’s” out there!!! Sent in my donation and making plans for Hoosier Hysteria.
    God bless the Hoosier Nation!!!

I’d be interested to know where the prosecutor earned his degree. MSU maybe?

You guys are fan-tabulous, keep up the good work. Well done!

put me down for a donation

  • CutterInChicago

I propose an ITH tailgate (either during the football season or, crazier idea, during hoops season) ostensibly to raise money for the site but also a chance to drink beer and pretend to be other people’s profile names.

We are up to 12 commits/recruits in attendance for HH! This is a huge win and I would not be shocked to see another 1 or 2 commitments over the weekend. How great would it be to get Yogi before the CZ visit? Only three more days…

If I get arrested for urinating in public please tell the police my name is “JerryinCT”

  • Yogi Kelin Zeller

still waiting to see if Perea and Jurking are their, they have to be…..PJ deserves his own, I was the first big time committment chant….

  • I don’t think either player will be attending, but I’m still trying to confirm that.

Hence the reason I rely on this site so much for news and info. I was only able to catch a few games last year. Staying up till 1 AM or getting up at 3 AM to watch a game is worth it, but there weren’t that many televised.

According to someone on, Perea is expected to be there.

Not sure where their information is coming from and it was posted almost two weeks ago, if anyone is able to substantiate it that would be helpful. Also Peegs had an article about the same time stating he would return to Bloomington soon just not sure when without the premium access. Jurkin would have a longer weekend trip to make it so he could be doubtful.

The Hoosier Hysteria list just keeps getting better and better. I am intrigued by the McIntosh kid

You guys rock. I’m stuck out here in Seattle (well, okay, it’s pretty cool, but still a long way away from Hoosierland). I used to try and keep up thru Terry’s stuff on the Star, but he’s just not consistent enough in getting out information. I come on the site every other day or so and get my fill. And, yes, I’ll be happy to contribute. Keep up the fantastic work.

    It seems like thanksgiving here…
    * We need to be thankful for the ITH crew for giving many of us our favorite website.
    * We also need to be thankful for Tom Crean’s parents for molding such a hard working son, and a leader and maker of men.
    * We need to be thankful that we have an iconic program to cheer and follow…I can feel the volcano about to erupt and send us back onto the national scene BIG TIME.

I know it’s weird to think about Thanksgiving already, but my Christmas is only a few days away now. I can’t wait to be there with my 5 month old son…bmgerdes.
FYI…I sat on the edge of the student section for the Michigan game and it was really cool to see all of these recruits we talk about sitting right beside me. For the record…Buckley does an amazing job with all of our ‘prospects.’

Keep up the good work guys! I will donate again as soon as the cash flow hits again at the beginning of November so don’t take down the paypal link!

You don’t get the “Dieci Grandi Network”?

  • Jeff in Italia

I used to live there, and there is a bar that shows all the games. At least they used to, but I lived there from 1990 – 2000. I think it was the University Inn. Good luck and say hello to Ballard for me.

There are 13 kids listed as coming to HH on Friday….ALL 13 are from Indiana….
I remember a time at HH when Devin Ebanks, Lance “Born Ready” Stephenson, kevin Jones, and Tyler Zeller were all their…..No wonder Tyler went elsewhere….

Now 13 Indiana kids will be present….hopefully Hanner too. Students, you have been coming through at Football games this year…..Now I need the following kids to receive their own chants…

    1. Austin Etherington…..He is a Hoosier and a big time player
    2. Ron Patterson…he started the most recent wave of recruits
    3. Yogi Ferrell….he is an NCAA national champion point guard
    4. Trey Lyles….he is a potential lottery pick
    5. Trevon Blueitt…..Bluiett, Blackmon, and Lyles…WILL get you a banner…
    6. Jeremy Hollowell….He doesn’t need to visit OSU and hear all the Evan Turner garbage anymore, it is a football school
    7. Devin Davis….. Doesn’t get much publicity, but is such a good good player

** Hanner Perea if he is there….needs to feel the love after this nonsense today.

  • harmonIU

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who contributes to ITH. Keep up the good work.

Alex, have you guys considered doing a bar event or something of the like in Chicago that could also work as a fundraiser for ITH? A lot of the bars do an all you can drink package where you can be a beneficiary and I figure with your partnership with Joe’s on Weed it would be a great forum. I know a lot of my friends and recent grads (’08) love what you guys are doing and would love to help out.

  • I think we’re going to have some sort of gathering at Joe’s for a game this season.

I’ll definitely keep everyone posted on that.
