According to a report in today’s Denver Post, Steve McClain is expected to leave Colorado, who will announce Tad Boyle as its new head coach, to become an assistant coach at Indiana.

Boyle, whose team was 25-8 this past season, was selected over former Metro State coach Mike Dunlap and current CU assistant Steve McClain, who is expected to leave to take an assistant’s job at Indiana, according to a source. Boyle is expected to be introduced as head coach at a news conference later today but CU has not yet released a time.

The 48 year-old McClain, who served as the associate head coach at Colorado for the past two seasons, was considered a leading candidate to take over for Jeff Bzdelik, who left for Wake Forest. He was the head coach at Wyoming from 1998 to 2006, where he led the Cowboys to four postseason appearances.

For now, we’ll treat this for what it is: A report from a “source” published by The Denver Post.
