Virtual tour of the new practice facility

by Alex Bozich in Media | June 3rd, 2008

Not sure how we missed this, but here’s a video tour of the new practice facility. If Crean can pull recruits with the current facilities, just imagine what he’ll be able to do when this place opens. Enjoy.

Big A...when is this facility supposed to be completed?
  • I think for 2009-2010, but I'm not positive on that.
  • Ryan_Btown
Last time I was in town, the paper said June 2009. About a year.

This facility is awesome, when does it open, and I hope the keep the pics of AJ ratliff and Armon Basset up. That would be a good selling point for crean as to what will happen to you if you don't do the right things.......(tongue and cheek comment)
  • JerryCT
I hope they show this to Negedu today and convince him that this facility will enable him to develop into the best player he can possibly be.

I think the NCAA prohibits giving him any media to keep as a reminder however.

So why should IU players NOT feel "entitled" ? With this great facility will come some even bigger attitudes .
  • That is one sweet center! wow, way cool.
  • hoosier07
no other word, but AWESOME! i believe they said the facility would be ready for the '09-'10 season, but i could be mistaken...
  • jgongora86
It looks awesome, but whats up with treadmill in the film room?
  • Believe that was intended for Sampson. I know he was big on the treadmill.
  • hoosierfan27
I saw this a couple months ago and was very impressed. This could become the deciding factor in players choosing IU over schools with not as nice of facilities (especially the school up north). Way to go on building this and the new football facilities we are headed in the right direction.

I have great priorities.....although I will be tuned in tonight for the ending of the democratic campaign.......I am more concerned with how Negedu's visit to IU will go.
  • Ending of the democratic campaign? The convention is tonight? ;-)
  • hoosierfan27
Of course Negedu would be visiting here on one of the worst weather days we've had all year. Its so nasty out I doubt they are even going to be outside. This is unfortunate because the campus looks its best this time of year.
  • jgongora86
Negedu has been to bloomington many times. He knows how beautifull it is. I've been to all our competing campuses and we kick the crap out of all of them. It's always beautifull in B-town.
  • If it's any consolation, it'll be hot as balls in Atlanta when he goes to check out Tech. And I'm sure Bloomington smells better than Memphis after a couple of weeks of 85+degree heat.
  • Kelin Blab
Matt...I was in Memphis a few weeks ago and my wife wanted to leave after she woke up at 7am and it was 87 degrees...Hopfeully Negedu will overlook the spinning clouds above and fall in love with the IU tradition....also nice democratic convetion comment :)
  • Yeah, that's one thing about the South: it gets hot fast. A couple of days ago, my yard was green and I had the windows open. Now it's dying fast and the AC is on, almost with the turning of the calendar to June. And, it's not a dry heat. Negedu should steer clear of schools in the South. As for the democratic convention, every time I read another story coming in today, all I can hear is Lee Corso's smug little "Not so fast, my friend!" It's a truly disturbing mental image.
  • jgongora86
Right on point matt_j. I have not stepped outside all day and my yard looks like crap as well. How the hell is my bamboo supposed to grow with all this heat. Don't go to the south Negedu.
  • MikeinNC
    Ditto.

I recently read that the facility is on track to be completed by June 2009, so it will be ready for the '09-'10 season.
  • that is sweet.....many colleges have nice facilities like this....its nice to see we stepped up to the plate....this has to be among the best in the country
  • JerryCT
Will there be any feedback on how the visit went ?

Next up is Crawford returning next week ............I hope.

Anybody know when the new team can first unofficially get together ? Williams , Pritchard anyone enrolled for the summer ?
  • IU_Jimmy
This video is from IUHoosiers.com. There is also a great virtual tour of the North End Zone facility.
  • Love how the new facility is gonna look. As far as Negedu visiting Iu on a bad weather day...its ok cause like you folks said Atlanta will have everyone sweating bullets by 8 AM when he is there. Knoxville will be a nice visit with a nice campus even if it is warm. Memphis.....well it'll be 95 at least (trust me i woke up this morning walked out my front door and almost cried) and the campus is in the middle of the ghetto. Not to mention it takes 20 minutes to get to the basketball arena from the campus itself. IU and tennessee will sure win as far as campus beauty and all that. I hope he likes tradition and being in a college town. That would put the Hoosiers right up with Pearl and his boys. If he likes living in a town where you have to always be looking over your shoulder for a guy with a gun Memphis or Tech might be more up his alley
  • jgongora86
You don't want to wear a Memphis jersey and boo the heck out of him do you? Just kidding ( i think).
  • tberry
U of T campus is not nearly as beautiful as IU. I don't know what their Basketball facilities are like but their Gym is not a large as assembly hall. IU should win the looks race hands down.
  • You would expect it to be not as nice, since Tennessee is traditionally a football school for men's athletics. Maybe Pat has the basketball facilities upgraded for her ladies, but maybe she doesn't want to share, either.
  • IU_Jimmy
What? Tennessee has excellent practice facilities for basketball, and recently renovated Thompson-Bowling Arena holds over 20,000 people.
  • tberry
My Step son graduated from Tennessee year before last. I have been
there many times. the campus is rolling but all brick and not as
    beautiful as IU.
The Basketball Arena was OK but I can't see how renovating it could
possibly bring it up to 20,000. the other facilities, I know nothing
about.. I never saw anything that would impress any IU fan.
  • IU_Jimmy
It held 25,000 before the renovation. Go look up Thompson Bowling arena on Google. They have excellent facilities.
  • HoosierSmitty
Wow. That looks impressive. I'll never set foot in 99% of that building and it still gave me goosebumps just to think about what it can do for the program.
  • JerryCT
Off topic but I checked out Gordon's camp stats provided by H_SCOOP blog and compared to Bayless. It turns out they are about the same size in HT and WGT ( Bayless 18lbs less but alot less fat ). Gordon better leaper and marginally more agile but faster than expected downcourt. Anyone thinking Bayless is smaller is flat wrong.

Vaden turns out to be slower, weaker, shorter than expected etc.. DJ did not participate
  • MikeinNC
    Damn. Impressive.
