Around the Hall: The dismissals

by Alex Bozich in Media | May 3rd, 2008

It was another day of big news for Indiana basketball on Friday as DeAndre Thomas, Eli Holman, Armon Bassett and Jamarcus Ellis were all dismissed by the university and will not return next season. Here’s a look at coverage of yesterday’s announcement from around the Web:

I find it ASTOUNDING what ONE bad hire can do to a powerhouse program like IU......in less than 2 years.
  • MikeinNC
And even more amazing is that it looks like a lot of the damage was done in just the last 8-12 months.....it is an impressive feat of destruction.....I know that coaches emerge from coaching purgatory all the time, but I gotta believe KS has dropped into the "Dave Bliss" zone - radioactive and untouchable at the DI level for the rest of eternity....
  • Big A and Coach Crean oh, and the ITHers' I am proud of the coach for cleaning house and giving IU a chance to begin again. Eight years of bad karma is enough. I have no objection to removing all the former players. HOWEVER, these kids were victims in so many ways and were part of our family...ok perhaps the dysfunctional part....but still family. They were lied to in their own homes with their parents present by our former coach. We should help them in any way possible to land on their feet. A scholarship or two from Ray in Detroit, maybe doing all we can to ease their transfers. I have no idea what we might be able to do but we are Indiana.....remember "it's Indiana" ..."it's Indiana"

Jesus who r u a stalker of Tom Crean. Ebanks isn't going to IU but for some reason everyone keeps bringing him up. HE WANTED TO PLAY FOR KS NOT IU. GET OVER IT.
  • Ebanks is out of the picture. As far as Juco guys, there may be a possibility.
  • hoosierfan27
    Big A,
Do you need any interns for the coming year would love to help? I'm a huge IU fan and a student and could get you inside info on the latest campus news.
  • Kelin Blab
Just curious does anyone have any info on Indiana's ONLY 2008 Indiana All Star recruit who although he is a walk on is a damn good player.....who turned down a scholly to attend IU???? Who also is waaay better than IU's other walk on recruit.....
  • hoosierfan27
You have a man crush on Moore. I went to HS with him for 2 years and he's not going to be an impact player in the big ten. Fink would school him on any given day.
  • dabig
Sampson lands a nice job in Milwaukee, and Crean gets to mop up the mess he left at IU. There's something terribly wrong with this system.
  • kelin
I see IU just got another player for 2009...sweet....
  • BTOWN40
dude please state their name, who did they get
  • BTOWN40
Maurice Creek 6'4 190 pound guard from Conneticut 4 star versatile recruit.
  • im glad to have some good news among all the bad, but isn't it time to perhaps begin recruiting players that are over 6'6? unless brandon mcgee is going to grow four inches in the next year, IU is going to have some problems.
  • dabig
I know what you're saying. Next year is gonna be crappy no matter what. I've got no problem with recruitng for well beyond next year.
  • BTOWN40
High-scoring guard Maurice Creek made it official Saturday when he made his pledge to IU Coach Tom Crean. Creek talked to HoosierNation.com about his commitment and what his role will be once he gets to Bloomington...

The newest player to add his name to IU’s commit list is Maurice Creek, a 6-4, 195-pound guard from South Kent Prep. Creek is a high-scoring guard with great range, long arms, and loads of versatility. His abilities are on display in this highlight video of Creek…
