I guess I am wondering if a head coach somewhere doesn't want to catch the fire and help him as an assistant , like O'Neil did for Olson, Slaney does for Calhoun, Dunn for Beilein. Maybe Tim Welsh ? Do we need that ?

I think a lot of it is hype. Indiana was a lightning rod while Knight was there, especially toward the end of his career. Since he left, there's been little to talk about, until the past two years. And then when a chink in the squeaky clean armor is shown, the media start poking it with sticks and smacking at it hoping that they can break it open. Now it's going closed with the hire of a man who does things the right way and whom a lot of people around the program are saying is a great hire. So, the media has to get in their final licks before the rent in the armor seals itself back up and becomes impervious again.

I think it is more media hype than anything as it relates to the trouble IU is in. The culprit has been fired along with an assistant, self imposed sanctions have been put on the university, schollys taken, and they hire a squeaky clean coach.

Did this guy just say everything we had to hear. I mean I his comments put him over and beyond what I expected. This is the type of guy we had to have. Tom Crean is a real class act. He deserves to be at the helm of the pinnacle of college basketball.

Funny but I feel we are in the best shape we have been in since several years before Knight left. I was always suspicious of KS and it turns out it was like playing russian roulette.

I've seen lots of reports from Illinois people calling Crean's decision "stupid".

I think they're just worried that Brucey Baby is headed north now.

I'm thinking they will hate us, mainly because they're Illinois fans.
