IU basketball’s Sam Alexis featured on regional cover for Lindy’s Sports preview

With the 2026-27 college basketball regular season set to tip off in less than two months, a long-standing college basketball preview magazine will hit newsstands this month.

The Lindy’s Sports college basketball preview magazine will be available on September 16.

In a sign of the times for college sports, Indiana’s Sam Alexis – currently ineligible to play next season – is featured on the regional cover that will be sold in Indiana.

Alexis, who is working out with the team in Bloomington but is not listed on the official roster for the 2026-27 season, is seeking a fifth season of eligibility.

He initially won a temporary injunction for an additional season of eligibility on July 31 but a Court of Appeals ruling in Tennessee on August 26 stayed the temporary injunction, making Alexis ineligible for the 2026-27 season.

Alexis averaged 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocked shots and 1.2 assists in 21.3 minutes per game last season for the Hoosiers.

Purdue’s C.J. Cox, Notre Dame’s Braeden Shrewsberry and Butler’s Drayton Jones are also featured on the regional cover.

The cover also revealed the preseason top 10 for Lindy’s, which has three Big Ten teams:
