6-Banner Sunday: IU basketball adds commitment from Clemens Sokolov
Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, where we highlight the five most essential IU sports stories of the past week. 6-Banner Sunday is written by Ari Shifron.
IU continues to close in on a full roster for next season. After a couple of weeks without a new commitment, the Hoosiers received a pledge from an international prospect.
Additionally, all of Indiana’s freshmen are highly ranked, the rest of IU’s outgoing transfers have found new homes and the Hoosiers will play in the FISU America Games.
Here is what is in this week’s edition:
• IU lands commitment from Clemens Sokolov
• IU’s incoming freshmen all ranked in the updated Rivals 150
• All six players who left IU have committed to new schools
• Early Bart Torvik rankings, IU to play in FISU America Games
• Back Home Network shows
• Hoosier Roundup
Banner #1 – IU lands commitment from Clemens Sokolov
While not the splash moves of previous portal additions, IU added its 11th scholarship player for the 2026-27 season. The Hoosiers already have their primary big men for next season, but added a backup here to compete for rotation minutes off the bench.
This addition is 18-year-old Clemens Sokolov, who previously played in Europe for Wuerzburg in Germany’s ProB league, where he averaged 6.4 points and five rebounds.

The Hoosiers have three freshmen coming in to go with six transfers, an international prospect in Sokolov and the return of Trent Sisley. How much this trio of newcomers can contribute remains to be seen.
However, all of them are projected relatively highly by On3/Rivals despite not necessarily being blue chippers as the class ranks No. 20 nationally. The recently signed Trevor Manhertz comes in highest at No. 78, while Vaughn Karvala slides in just behind him at No. 81. Meanwhile, Prince-Alexander Moody rounds out at No. 101.

Jason Drake, Jasai Miles, Josh Harris, Nick Dorn, Andrej Acimovic and Aleksa Ristic all left IU this offseason and entered the transfer portal. Now all of them have new destinations.
After Harris, Ristic, Drake, and Dorn announced their new schools last week, Miles and Acimovic made their new destinations known in the last few days. Miles will head to Loyola Marymount while Acimovic will transfer to Missouri State.

Projections remain high for the Hoosiers next season following their transfer portal additions.
Bart Torvik has the Hoosiers at No. 25 nationally.
With the expectations, IU coach Darian Devries spoke to the media about the upcoming year as well as several other topics.
Before the regular season can start, though, Indiana announced another offseason trip with exhibition games. This time, they will represent the USA in the FISU America Games from July 20 to Aug 1.
Banner #5 – Back Home Network Shows
The Back Home Network has many shows. As a result, it was on air several times this week with programming.

• Softball beat Illinois to close its regular season before taking out Washington in the Big Ten tournament. However, Nebraska was too much for them in the semifinals. With that said, at 42-14 and an RPI in the 30’s, IU is expected to hear its name called tonight for the NCAA tournament for the fourth straight year.
• Baseball had arguably its worst week of a bad season. They lost a series to lowly Northwestern and twice blew a late lead to arch-rival Purdue, as their year is all but over with only one more series left.
• Men’s golf finished 16th at the Big Ten Championships.
• Track and field hosted the Billy Hayes Invitational.
• Women’s basketball will compete in a tournament next November in Fort Myers, Florida, against Georgia Tech and Mississippi State. Also, two former Hoosiers made WNBA rosters.
• Volleyball revealed its opponents for conference play for next fall.
• Men’s Soccer alumni will compete in the TST for the fourth straight year.
• Finally, many IU athletes were amongst the students who graduated this weekend.
Now go enjoy yourself a 6-Banner Sunday.
