Jakai Newton, Gabe Cupps both land in top 100 of latest ESPN rankings

ESPN was the last of the major recruiting services to update its national rankings for the 2023 class after On3, Rivals and 247Sports all released updates in recent weeks.

Both of Indiana’s class of 2023 commitments, Jakai Newton and Gabe Cupps, are ranked in the latest ESPN 100.

Newton is the No. 84 player nationally according to ESPN and a four-star prospect. He’s considered the 18th-best shooting guard in the class.

Cupps is the No. 88 player nationally according to ESPN and is also a four-star prospect. He’s considered the No. 21 point guard in the class.

Indiana’s top recruiting target in the 2023 class, Arrinten Page, is ranked No. 56 and is considered a four-star prospect. Page is the No. 8 center in the 2023 class according to ESPN. Page is currently on campus at Miami (FL) for an official visit.

The highest ranked Big Ten commit is Michigan State pledge Xavier Booker. The Cathedral big man is ranked No. 3 nationally.

Additionally, ESPN also updated its 2024 and 2025 rankings and several players with Indiana scholarship offers are ranked.

Prospects ranked in the ESPN 60 for 2024 with Indiana scholarship offers include Bryson Tucker (No. 4), Paul McNeil (No. 10), Derik Queen (No. 12), Liam McNeeley (No. 15), Boogie Fland (No. 16), Dylan Harper (No. 19), Asa Newell (No. 23), Yves Missi (No. 25), Aiden Sherrell (No. 35), James Brown (No. 41) and Khani Rooths (No. 55).

Prospects ranked in the ESPN 25 for 2025 with Indiana scholarship offers include Koa Peat (No. 3), Darryn Peterson (No. 4), Bryson Tiller (No. 5), Caleb Wilson (No. 7), Jalen Haralson (No. 12) and Trey McKenney (No. 17).
