Film Session: Merrimack
We’re on the right wing again a few minutes later in the contest. This time around, Leal denies the dribble handoff action. But we again see, Bates, who is now on the ball handler to start, simply ease up a bit, get out of a defensive stance and open up his body, allowing Edmead another clean drive to the basket.
This time around, Edmead passes it straight to the corner off the Geronimo help and the Warriors are able to make the shot.
Bates has shown a lot of promise so far in his freshman campaign, but his defense is still a work in progress.
