Film Session: Nebraska

This time around, both the front and the backside help are weaker, allowing Jackson-Davis to get the ball. But McGowens comes on the double team regardless. McGowens had been guarding Miller Kopp, who clears to the weak side corner. As Indiana swings the ball around the perimeter to try and get Kopp the shot, Lat Mayen switches out to him from Race Thompson and McGowens rotates to Thompson.

Mayen’s switch makes sure Kopp doesn’t have a clean look from deep. So Kopp goes into his bag, faking left and driving right, a move we highlighted in the Syracuse Film Session. But Mayen’s length makes it tougher for Kopp to get to his spot. And with just two seconds left on the shot clock, Kopp has to fire up a mid-range jumper, one both Mayen and McGowens contest. It doesn’t fall.

Great work from the Nebraska defense here to switch and rotate weak side after the double team.
