Film Session: Rutgers
Paul Mulcahy inbounds the ball to Harper Jr.:
Johnson sets a ball screen for Harper Jr. and he goes right:
Jerome Hunter switches onto Harper Jr. to stop the ball. As Trey Galloway sticks with Johnson on the roll, Trayce Jackson-Davis, who guarded Mulcahy on the inbounds pass, points for Galloway to pick him up on the perimeter, as he’ll switch onto Johnson:
Here’s where Galloway gets quite confused. We now see Franklin pointing for Galloway to pick up Mulcahy as well. Archie Miller starts emploring him to do it, too. But Galloway is ball-watching as Mulcahy moves out of the corner:
Franklin keeps pointing for Galloway to move, but he sticks in the same spot as Mulcahy moves to the left wing on Harper Jr.’s drive:
As Miller and Franklin keep looking for Galloway to move to Mulcahy, he first moves to the ball:
On the pass, he finally moves to Mulcahy:
It’s too late and Mulcahy gets off a good look with Galloway still on the floor:
But the shot misses, the only 3-pointer the Scarlet Knights missed in this stretch. It’s a long rebound that Galloway punches up in the air:
As Johnson is able to grab it, Durham is watching. Baker starts moving to the right wing:
Durham is guarding Johnson and Johnson finds Baker:
Baker knocks down another 3-pointer, as Durham is too far away to meaningfully affect the shot:
While Indiana got lucky with Mulcahy’s first miss here after Galloway’s serious miscue, the long rebound got the defense scrambled and Rutgers scored with its second-chance.
