On Indiana’s final possession of regulation, Jackson-Davis slips a screen for Franklin:

As he posts up Beran, Beran fronts him a bit. Young has moved into the middle of the paint away from Thompson to give more attention on Jackson-Davis. Meanwhile, Franklin moves right on Greer:

Beran and Young stick near Jackson-Davis as Franklin goes between his legs and back left:

As Franklin heads towards the paint, Beran is able to cut off a path to the basket. Young is still in the middle of the paint to ward anything off, too. Audige has slid down off Phinisee to help as well. On the strong side corner, Kopp is warding off a kickout to Durham:

With nothing going, Indiana has to re-set. Franklin passes back out to Durham:

Jackson-Davis slips a screen once more:

But this time around, Durham cuts back left much quicker and has Kopp leaning the wrong way. Jackson-Davis rolls right in front of him.  Young is still in the middle of the paint and leaning Jackson-Davis’ way:

Beran recovers to Jackson-Davis, Young moves closer to him, as does Greer out of the corner. There are now three Northwestern defenders near Jackson-Davis:

As Durham keeps coming, Greer moves back out to Franklin after his stunt in. But Beran and Young both have their hands on Jackson-Davis as Durham keeps pace in front of Kopp:

Instead of continuing to come to the paint and potentially meet a big near the basket, Durham opts for the 10-foot pull-up in front of the defense with Kopp still behind him. Notice, too, that Durham also had the option to pass to Phinisee on the wing with Audige coming down to the lane to help on Thompson. But Durham took the shot and hit it to tie the game and send it into overtime:

Nice decision by Durham to pull up here and take what was there. Beran’s and Young’s decision to pay attention to Jackson-Davis — a large part of Northwestern’s defensive game plan — instead of popping out to help on Durham helped, too.
