Film Session: Purdue
Williams sets a ball screen for Nojel Eastern on the right wing:
Jackson-Davis hedges some, but begins to recover back to Williams:
With the ball screen isolated on the right side and the rest of the Boilermakers spread out around the perimeter, Jackson-Davis gets no help defense as he recovers back:
But he’s able to get to Williams and have a hand on him as he rises up:
Jackson-Davis has a hand up and over Williams:
But as we saw from Williams on the first two plays of this Film Session, hang time is key for him. Jackson-Davis times up his swat for Williams at the top of his jump, but Williams simply holds onto the ball longer and lets go of it as he’s about to touch the ground again. This allows him to evade Jackson-Davis for the score:
Jackson-Davis did a nice job recovering and contesting here. But Williams’ hang time again bested IU’s defense.
