Film Session: Maryland
Off a Jalen Smith free throw miss, Brunk grabs the rebound:
He outlets to Durham:
Durham pushes it up and finds Smith as three Maryland defenders are near the paint. Jackson-Davis calls for the ball:
Perhaps if Smith were a better shooter, he would have popped the quick, open 3-pointer, but he instead opts to try to go to the basket. Aaron Wiggins meets him:
So Smith dribbles into a similar place from the first play of this Film Session and he finds Donta Scott meeting him there. Smith is essentially in a double team now. He maybe has a pass to Green in the left corner, but he brings the ball low as he starts moving it towards a trailing Brunk:
Scott sniffs it out and gets a hand on the pass:
Cowan picks up the loose ball:
As Durham and Green give chase to Cowan, Scott follows on the trailer. At this point, Smith has started to slow down and begins jogging:
Smith is now moving even slower on the Cowan pass to Scott:
Scott slams it home to put Maryland up 15:
Another rough turnover from Smith here — and not full effort in transition defense — during a period of the game where Maryland really started to take control.
