Film Session: Portland State
Now in the second half, Woods has the ball on the right wing, Alonzo Walker comes to set a ball screen for him:
Walker slips the screen as Woods drives to the paint:
Smith slides over on the help defense, leaving some room for Whitaker on the left wing:
Smith’s help slows Woods, so he passes out to Whitaker on the left wing:
Smith heads out to cover the ball, but Whitaker is starting to come downhill on him:
He’s into the paint. Brunk opts against getting his body in front of Whitaker, instead he just throws a hand at him. It does little to slow him down:
Whitaker puts it in for two:
Smith’s initial help on Woods worked, but his defense broke down from there and Brunk simply didn’t provide proper help once Smith was beat off the dribble.
