Film Session: Michigan State
With eight and a half second to play out of a timeout, Winston gets the ball on the left wing from the baseline:
Tillman slips the ball screen as Winston drives right:
As he starts heading downhill towards the baseline the Hoosiers have both Green and Morgan in the lane to help prevent a shot in the paint:
Winston isn’t able to get around Phinisee and now all four other Hoosiers are in the paint as Winston begins to gather. Two Spartans are calling for the ball on the weak side as a result, but with just a few ticks left in the game, Winston takes matters into his own hands:
He hoists up the heavily contested shot and it misses:
There’s still enough time left for a potential putback from Michigan State. The ball is batted around:
And batted around once more before it lands free and goes out to the right wing, ensuring there’s not enough time left for the Spartans to get off a shot and for the Hoosiers to emerge victorious:
Great individual effort from Phinisee here. But by parking two defenders in the lane on top of that, Indiana also made it difficult for Winston to get something good off before the buzzer sounded.
