With just over 20 ticks to go, Josh Newkirk has the ball up top. The Hoosiers look to free Blackmon Jr. with a staggered screen:
He gets the pass from Newkirk:
But Cowan is all over him on the left wing, not giving him a sliver of space to rise up and hit a game-tying 3-pointer:
Blackmon Jr. drives down to the baseline and is still being harassed by Cowan:
So Blackmon Jr. passes to Anunoby on the left wing as Justin Jackson lunges for the steal:
Jackson’s gamble gives Anunoby room to drive and he takes it:
He skies above the crowd for an insane dunk to pull the Hoosiers back within one:
There was some post-game chatter about Blackmon Jr. not getting any shots late for IU, but it’s clear from this play he was the team’s first option. Cowan just happened to lock him up and it allowed for Anunoby to come in and save the day.
