In Sunday’s showcase game of the adidas Super64, 7-footer Thon Maker of Team Loaded (Va.) put on a show in his team’s 73-70 overtime loss to Game Elite (Ga.) with an unofficial line of 21 points and 11 boards.

Maker scored in a variety of ways, showing great body control, ball skills and athleticism for a player his size. He also recorded a few blocks.

The junior, regarded as the top player in his class, has an IU offer.

Watch his highlights below:

watched almost this entire game. Thon was really good in the first half, but he shrunk in the 2nd. He is really talented, but definitely has strides to make. Would love to have him at IU.

Yep…by the way, I’m still waiting for Kate Upton to return my call.

What kinda message did you leave for Kate Upton? LOL.

Basically that there is a lot of playing time to be had. :>)

  • ForeverIU

Yeah but it takes a team … wink, wink.

Thon Maker you are going to be one of our greats, and your brother too.

What, her lawyer wasn’t enough? 😉

    Kidding… 😀

I like the guy, but do we know how strong IU’s in the running for him? I thought I read somewhere that he took visits to Kansas and Duke which he really enjoyed, and while I’m always IU-biased, I can’t ignore that those programs have some strong pull themselves.

Recruitment worries me. I’d be a lousy college coach. 🙁

Anyway, does anyone have any word beyond the generic niceties on how he judges IU?

IMHO we had TM locked or close to it when he was going out early in 2015, however when he changed his mind to 2016 IU lost momentum and the big dogs that could not find a spot for him in 2015 did in 2016.

  • ForeverIU

Interesting, I was wondering about that. I’m hoping there’s still a chance he might reclassify, although it seems improbable because, according to Smith, he was not able to take the coursework he would have needed to take this summer to graduate early.

Not to take you away from but Google “Kate Upton”, you’ll thank me later, probably even if you’re female.

Those nationally prominent schools who couldn’t offer in ’15 already had locked in many of the elite players in that class. A lot of them will be gone in ’16 which presents the opportunity to make a serious run at TM. I think IU will be in the mix for his LOI. I can just to imagine how CTC will use his unique skill set– right up to the point at which he gets homesick.

I imagine she’s a better than average one-on-one player, but can she dunk?

  • E Foy McNaughton

Thank goodness he’s not from Wisconsin ….

  • HoosierGrampy

    You said that right!

  • marcusgresham

Would you settle for a cease and desist letter from her attorney?
