Indiana redshirt junior guard Maurice Creek met with reporters Thursday at IU’s annual media challenge and talked about a variety of topics including the challenge of rehabbing from three major surgeries, his role in the program moving forward, perimeter shooting, IU’s return to national prominence and much more.

Came to help restore IU when even the top tier instate talent wouldn’t and it just wasn’t the “in” thing to do all the while knowing he could have chosen from a list of other high D1 offers. I’m sure the fact that his team would struggle, for at least a year or two, to beat what most people considered below average teams, was not lost on him either.

Struggled through not one, not two, but three MAJOR injuries with each successive one coming on the heels (no pun intended) of the one before it if not before he was completely through getting over the previous one.

Had to sit on the sideline & watch while the turnaround that he was supposed to lead took place but still enthusiastically cheered his teammates on & remained positive.

Listened every day about how CZ and the movement were the saviors of the IU bball program knowing that, barring the 3 injuries, or hell even 2 of them, he would probably already be earning a living doing what he loved most and that people would be including his name right along with those others when the subject IU’s return was talked about.

Is there any one player that deserves a bunch of good things to come his way more than this young man….I don’t think so. The fact that he has not packed it in and called it a career speaks volumes about this young man’s toughness & character. Mr. Creek, here’s to wishing you nothing but the best from here on out on and off the court in whatever life brings you. You will always be considered a big part of restoring IU bball to it’s rightful place by this Hoosier.

Creek is still the man. I hope he’s truly “full go” like he’s saying. My gosh we’re already loaded with talent.

  • That was our old friend Osterman.
